So I have cheated. (tee hee hee)
On my house. And have fallen in love with another. I look at it everyday online and drool.
The problems are a. I can't STAND the listed realtor and b. it does not have a pool. It has ROOM for a pool but it isn't a wise decision to add a pool (better to buy with a pool).
Anyway. So I will continue to drool. And go home to my current house and feel guilty. And then come to work and drool. And the cycle will continue.
EDIT: OH MY FREAKING GOD WE ARE GOING TO LOOK AT IT THIS WEEKEND!! Let's hope to God that the pictures make it look a lot better than it is IRL.

Agreed!
my bookshelf!
Bloggy
Okay, let's see if these pics work - here is the kitchen - now, I LOVE it as is - omg, I love it so much, but I would install a more...artsy backsplash. Probably similar to what I have now, actually.
Living room - small and cozy -
Check out the breakfast room/kitchen view -
One of my favorite parts is this closet - my parents build their house in the 1970s (the house I essentially grew up in) and they built their closet like this too - as a hallway between the bedroom and bathroom - I LOVE LOVE LOVE it - although it appears the wood needs to be replaced which is totally easy.
Bonus room
Wet bar/staircase
I have been drooling over it for months - MONTHS. I really can't believe it hasn't sold yet - it is priced very well. I don't think the exterior is that cute but DH really likes it - but for that kitchen, I would live in a house that looks like...I am not sure what. Something ugly and drastic. This is a prime example of a reno done right. Clearly, just my opinion since this poor house is still on the market. Boo.
see, I think your kitchen now looks way better. You have done awesomeness with your house!
Well, thank ya! I think our kitchen has more personality, for sure, but the kitchen in this house is...HUGE. OMG it is so big and I can add the personality with a different backsplash a maybe a different granite on the island or on the counter tops (I am not a fan of that brown looking granite, yuck). This is, without a doubt, the first house I have seen that I like more than my own. Which means I should own it, clearly.
In all honesty, though, space, in our current place, is a huge issue. I hate to say that because it isn't a small house by any means but....Lord, we are packed in there. If we decide to have a baby, I am not sure how we would make it work. We need a bedroom for SD (and her bedroom right now is the smallest bedroom which makes me feel uber guilty), a guest bedroom, our bedroom, and a bedroom for any potential children we may have. I think getting DH's "man room" finished will really help. Up until now that was wasted space and having an extra living room area will help, I think.
Plus, I am bored.
His issue with this house (other than the lack of pool) is that there isn't anything to redo. He loves the renos. Ignoring the stress, the before and after is the best feeling ever. The entire "feeling" of our current house is completely different - not sure how to explain that - but the transition is really fun.
Oh, also, my crazy parents are moving one block from us. Uh huh. Now, I started drooling over this house LONG before that happened but..seriously? WTF.
OMG, that kitchen. I am trying to think of what kind of backsplash we would put in there. It would have to be something really light colored. Maybe a blue. That might be fun.
My first thought when I read this was that it was because of your parents moving into the 'hood.
That said, I also like your kitchen better (and really, everything I've seen here your current house looks better), but I don't believe for a minute that you guys wouldn't redo stuff.
Ha ha ha ha, yeah, I know
But this 'break' we have taken the last 5 - 6 months has been really fantastic. In fact, we had big plans for our third bathroom/laundry room and have come to the decision that it will be too much work, too much stress and retiling/adding new cabinets is really all we want to do now. Plus, renovating is so expensive. I am ready to not be spending every extra dime we have on house sh!t but DH and I did agree that we aren't sure we are 'done' with this house just yet...
It just depends on what it looks like IRL. It is possible that the kitchen cabinets are original and they were simply restained and in that case, no bueno. It is possible the white moldings and such have simply been painted (and isn't brand new like we did in our house) which is again, no bueno. The pool situation isn't good either but DH mentioned last night we could add a nice lap pool which would make taking care of it super easy. THis monster we have now is...a monster!
