Bermuda

We have our first trip to Bermuda booked for August!! We are so excited! I have read that visitors can not rent cars, but public transportation and taxis are available along with mopeds and bikes.  Our six year old daughter will be with us. I don't feel comfortable having her ride a bike there and several places I have looked at don't even rent children's bike. Has anyone gone to Bermuda recently and know of any places that rent golf carts? Also, does anyone have any suggestions on things to do while we are there? I have some places flagged but any opinions of things to do or to stay away from would be great! Thanks!

Re: Bermuda

  • We had our 18 month old with us the last time we went and pretty much solely used their public bus system.  We purchased a multi-day pass and they have bus stops everywhere there.  I would recommend that.  Even if we didn't have my daughter with us we didn't feel comfortable with mopeds since we have little to no experience riding one and the roads are very narrow there.  Taxis get pretty expensive.  Good Luck.  Its a beautiful place and for the most part much safer than a lot of other islands.
  • We took taxis but we mostly stayed at the beach b/c that was the trip we wanted. When we go back we'll use the bus system for sites, it seemed to be the easiest and less expensive option. I would not drive there b/c while the roads are fine there are some crazy turns and narrow roads.

  • Dockyard Beach behind the Albert Row apartments is AMAZING for collecting sea glass. When I was there, my child was three, and it was wonderful. You can get there via bus (7 or 8, I think). I'd suggest bringing a mesh laundry bag to collect sea glass, as you can easily rinse it out in a shower or sink without losing sea glass.
