Hi, I don't usually post here, but have a quick question and don't know where else to turn. My daughter just started really walking well (took off for the first time last night). My ILs have three large parrots in their house, two of which are in cages that are within reach of my daughter. With her walking now, I get worried about little fingers either exploring the cages or her simply pulling up on them. Is there anything out there that could block the bottoms and lower sides of the cages so that her fingers can't get in there while we're visiting them? (When we visit, it's for an entire weekend because they live three hours away, so it's not really just a matter of keeping her away from the cages for a couple of hours.)
I went online to a local bird supply store's website and saw mesh coverings for small cages, but nothing legit for the the large parrot cages (the two within reach are a macaw and a cockatoo).
Re: Question for the bird people!
I know they have seed guards for the perimeter of the bottom of the cages. Maybe those will help.:)
Yay never mind! When we went to visit (first time since DD started walking), the two parrots in question had already been moved into my IL's in-home aviary and out of the main living space without even having to mention any concerns. (Turns out those two birds are even happier in the aviary anyway too, and have been much better behaved since moving in there. Win win!)
