Dog on long road trip

We are taking our dog on vacation which is a 12 hour car ride. We have made numerous 4-5 hour trips with her, but this will be the longest. She normally rides in her carrier because she seems to be much more comfortable there than on the seat/in our laps. She used to get car sick when she was really little, but hasn't in a while, and other than that seems to ride fine. Anything I should be aware of taking her that far, or just treat it like any other car trip? Is it ok for her to be in her carrier the whole time (other than potty/meal breaks)? TIA!

Re: Dog on long road trip

  • It is safest for her to be in her carrier the whole time, so don't worry about that. Imagine what would happen if she were lose and you got into a car accident!

I would just hold off on food until you get there, make plenty of stops with water breaks, and let her stretch her legs.

    Good luck!
