Re: How was your weekend?

    • Highs? Lots of family time! Nieces' birthday party on Saturday, family day alone with E and M on Sunday.

    • Lows? Nothing really. It was a good weekend.

    • Watch anything good? Game of Thrones finale.

    • Eat/make anything good? Friday dinner at Olive Tree - seafood alfredo, salad, breadsticks. And a trip to Yogi Castle on Sunday afternoon - cookies 'n' cream yogurt, Oreos, strawberries, Heath bits. Delicious!

    • Read anything good? I've just barely made a dent in Game of Thrones. I'm hoping that I'll make more time for reading now that so many shows are done for the season.

    • FFCs, AWs, vents, observations, etc? Vent #1: I'm still scarred by the traffic last week. Our morning and evening drives, including driving E to work and M to daycare, is usually just over an hour. My drive in to work on Tuesday morning was almost 2 hours due to rain, my drive home on Wednesday evening was 2.5 hours due to accidents, my drive home on Friday evening was 2 hours due to a car fire. It was absolutely horrible.
    • Vent #2: My sister has chosen to spend Father's Day weekend in OC with her boyfriend-of-a-few-months and his son. She's head-over-heels and I'm happy that she's happy, but I think it's ridiculous that she can't be bothered to make Father's Day plans with, y'know, her father. He lives with her and they see each other daily, so she doesn't think it's a big deal, and Dad says he's not bothered by it. It's none of my business, but it still pisses me off.
    • Vent #3: As many of you know from Facebook or TheBump, we got a bit of news about the baby's heart last week, and in light of that, I elected to have an amnio performed to rule out a couple of issues that may be related to the defect. While discussing this with my family on Saturday, my 19-year old niece informed me that pregnant women shouldn't have amnios performed because they're too dangerous. She took a single Health & Human Development class and is now an expert. I reined in my frustration, knowing that it's simply related to the know-it-all-phase of the teens/early 20s, but I wanted to shake her. Instead I calmly informed her that every pregnancy is different and each pregnant woman has to make her decisions for herself. And then I changed the subject.
    • AW: E and I are in a good place in so many ways. Last Friday was the first time since August 2011 that we had two paychecks hitting our bank account, which made bill paying so much less stressful. Without going into detail of our finances, it's a HUGE relief. We have one lingering hurdle that we're hoping to sort out this coming week, and if it works in our favor, we'll be in excellent shape. But even beyond that, relationship-wise, we're good. Not that things have been "bad" in recent months, but it's just extra-nice lately. No bits of annoyance, no sniping, no issues. Without gushing and making everyone wish I'd never responded: I'm just really happy, and I'm so grateful for him.

    • What are you looking forward to this week? Nothing in particular. OB appointment Monday, M's preschool graduation Monday evening, but I think the concept of a preschool graduation is utterly ridiculous. I'm sure I'll think she's cute 'n' all, but I'm not particularly looking forward to it.

ETA: Sorry I'm so wordy in the Vents this week! I had them bottled up, apparently.

    • Highs? Had a great time at the Greek festival with friends and had a nice dinner party with the ILs. Also got to lay in my hammock for several hours and read yesterday. FIL also installed our new stove hood yesterday so now we have a kitchen fan that actually vents out through the roof instead of just circulating the air right back at us.
    • Lows? Nothing really. I had painting to do yesterday that I was dreading but it really didn't take me long.
    • Watch anything good? Horrible Bosses was pretty good. Also watched Girls and Nurse Jackie.
    • Eat/make anything good? This was a great eating weekend. At the Greek festival I had a delicious gyro and bought a bunch of cookies and pastries. We also made flank steak, twice baked potatoes, bbq kielbasa and a frozen banana pie.
    • Read anything good? Finished In the Garden of Beasts and just started Perfect Match by Jodi Picoult.
    • FFCs, AWs, vents, observations, etc? I just really don't want to work this week. I have a ton of annoying meetings and conference calls scheduled that take a lot of prep work and then end up being a huge waste of time. My coworker who I like is also out all week which means I'm stuck alone with the other dingy annoying coworker.
    • What are you looking forward to this week? All I can come up with is payday and Friday evening.
    • Highs? Watching A ride on her trike this weekend, taking the girls to the playground.
    • Lows? Taking both girls to daycare today. I didn't want the weekend to end.
    • Watch anything good? nope
    • Eat/make anything good? We went to the SIL/BIL and they made some yummy food.
    • Read anything good? Still reading the second book of the hunger games.
    • FFCs, AWs, vents, observations, etc? Today is Caroline's first day at daycare. Things are going well (A's been a little clingy because she's there). BIG AW: Annabelle's got the potty training down. She didn't have any accidents yesterday. I actually canceled our diapers that I get from Amazon Mom. I hope this means soon we can actually save $10 a week at daycare too.
    • What are you looking forward to this week? This Saturday my aunt and I are having massages at this little place in Bel Air. Saturday night DH and I are going out to dinner to celebrate our Anniversary (a few months early).

    • Highs? Baysox game Saturday night.  Getting a lot accomplished yesterday around the house.

    • Lows? Getting an awful sunburn on Saturday.  It's 100% my fault.  I didn't think to put sunscreen on before my nephew's t-ball game.  It only lasted 45 minutes but my back and shoulders were burned to a crisp!

    • Watch anything good? We watched Man on a Ledge. It was entertaining.

    • Eat/make anything good? Mushroom Swiss Black Bean Burger and Molten Chocolate Cake at Chili's.

    • Read anything good? No

    • FFCs, AWs, vents, observations, etc? Mainly vents
    • 1.  We had plans to go to Boston tomorrow and due to weather, flight loads, etc, we can't go.  I'm mad because I hate breaking tradition and I burned a vacation day.
    • 2. I have to fly to/from Chicago on Wednesday for a meeting.  It's my first time to Chicago and I won't have the opportunity to leave the airport and get some deep dish pizza.
    • 3. I'm in the middle of a four day weekend.  I'm trying to enjoy it because when I return to work I will be working approximately 100 hours before my next day off.
    •
    • What are you looking forward to this week? DH and I are going to visit friends this afternoon that just had a baby.  I can't wait to meet their little girl !

    • Highs? Great Grapes wine festival. The weather could not have been more gorgeous and B was the happiest baby all day despite getting no afternoon nap.
    • Lows? Locking both sets of keys in the house and having to make FIL bring us the spare. I also took my first exam for my Summer online course. The timed exam was entirely too long for the alloted time and I got a C on it. I don't get C's...ever. I was so upset. This professor needs to get off her effing high horse and realize that people have other things in their life than to study as much as you need to take her tests. I have spent every minute Bailey is asleep working on this damn class and I have another class that isn't getting as much attention due to this crap. I am SO irritated over it.
    • Watch anything good? No TV...no time.
    • Eat/make anything good? I made an amazing turkey meatloaf on Friday. I put rosemary in it and it was freaking delicious.
    • Read anything good? Nope, no time.
    • FFCs, AWs, vents, observations, etc? I am so mad about this stupid online course and can't wait for these 5 weeks to be over so I can have my life back.
    • What are you looking forward to this week? DH and I are hopefully going on a date day on Saturday downtown. We're also going to the Orioles/Phillies game on Sunday. Go Phillies!!

    • Highs? Went home to visit my family.
    • Lows? Made it abundantly clear at dinner Saturday night that the hubs and I planned on adopting children.  It seems that later that night when my dad and mom went home my mom wasn't even up the front steps when she asked my dad, "why can't Heidi have kids?"
    • AWESOME!!!
    • Watch anything good? Watched Paul and it was really funny.
    • Eat/make anything good? My sister and I made German Chocolate Cupcakes for my grandma's birthday party.
    • Read anything good? Nope.
    • FFCs, AWs, vents, observations, etc? Vent about my mom. See above.
    • What are you looking forward to this week? DH and I are both in town this week!
    • Highs?  As sad as it sounds, I didn't have to go to the English Dept Party I wanted to bale on. My chair is in Finksburg and the weather did a number on her trees. She was fine, not major damage, but she didn't have power so the party is now 6pm on Wed night. Opps can't make it now as we live an hour away and I so not going to a party at 6pm on a Wed night.
    • Lows?  Nothing really
    • Watch anything good? Not really
    • Eat/make anything good?  I am in love with the sugar snap peas that I got at the Farmers' market. I am eating them like chips.
    • Read anything good? Does grading my last set of papers for the year count?
    • FFCs, AWs, vents, observations, etc?
    • Vent #1: Like LLHR said, traffic has been a beast last week. People really need to learn to drive.
    • What are you looking forward to this week?
    • This is my last week of school, for I am not sure how long. I am taking at least next year off to be with our last little one that is coming in July and my son. DD starts Kindergarten in the fall. I can take up to two years without losing my job (I may have to go back to a diffrent school but I would have a job somewhere) I am basically done everything I need to do. I do have to finalize grades and grade my final exams, but that should not take long. I am just glad it is not going to be very hot this week. Last week was brutal.
    • Highs? Had an unexpectedly good time at our friends anniversary party.
    • Lows? I had a hangover yesterday from said Saturday  night fun.  Friday night DH was in a weird grumpy mood, which seems to be happeneing more and more on days he's off.  I'm not sure why he's in a worse mood after having the day off?
    • Watch anything good?  No
    • Eat/make anything good? DH made strawberry jam from scratch yesterday - it was super easy and took maybe 4 hours total - and its plenty of jam for us for a year.
    • Read anything good? Nope.
    • FFCs, AWs, vents, observations, etc? My MIL sent me an email this gushing about how great DD is and how great I am as a mother!  It was really nice and very appreciated since DD told me I hated her this morning!
    • What are you looking forward to this week? 2 more weeks until vacation!!

    • Highs?
    • DH & I went out to eat twice AND we went our by ourselves for the first time in almost a year! (I know we should hire a babysitter more, but we don't really have it in our budget.) My MIL came down and watched DD. We loved having her and she loved watching DD.

    • Lows? FIL is really having a hard time dealing with SIL's death from breast cancer last year and he's taking it out on MIL and pretty much anyone else who is around. There was some drama last year about a family vacation that occurred a few week before she died and she and her family (3 kids & husband) ended up not going. FIL blames this on MIL. He's going to therapy, but it's not helping. I think he needs meds. He's being so abusive that MIL is thinking of leaving him. (He was supposed to come down with MIL, but she couldn't stand to be around him.)

    • Watch anything good? Nope

    • Eat/make anything good? Made chocolate ice cream cake from scratch and it was AWESOME! Ate at One World Cafe and had a Umi (?) apple beer at Frisco Grille.
    • Read anything good? No, but I need to start re-reading Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman ASAP for Saturday book club. Embarrassed

    • FFCs, AWs, vents, observations, etc?
    • AW: DD is now in the toddler room. I dropped her off at dc today and she was so interested in watching the big kids, but she looked so tiny. It made me want to cry - I was feeling really nostalgic.

DH and I really need to go on date days/night more. It's so nice to go out just the two of us.

    • What are you looking forward to this week? Book club! I love the wine, food and conversation.

    • Highs? DS's birthday party was great!! Everything went well, DH and I both got to visit with friends we hadn't seen in awhile, and I think everyone had a good time. DS got so many great gifts - the generosity of our friends and family is overwhelming!
    • Lows? DS was not feeling well. He got sent home sick on Friday (his actual birthday) and he was feeling better by party time but he was pretty quiet and not his normal happy self. I want my happy baby back!!
    • Watch anything good? Not really.
    • Eat/make anything good? I made 4 dozen cupcakes and a smash cake. They got good reviews, so I think they were good :)
    • Read anything good? No.
    • FFCs, AWs, vents, observations, etc? I know I am type-A-ish when it comes to planning and party stuff, but people make fun of me a lot for it (like my mom). I know they're joking, but I wish they'd joke less.
    • DH was awesome this weekend with taking care of DS while I was doing party stuff. I really appreciate all his help.
    • What are you looking forward to this week? DS's 1 year pedi appt tomorrow to ask some questions, game night with friends on Saturday.

    • Highs?  My cousins from Pittsburgh came to Aberdeen for a baseball tournament at Ripken stadium. It was great to see them and watching the games was actually fun - they were the 10 year old age group so even though it's taken seriously, they still made mistakes and it was fine.
The weather was beautiful and Sydney had a great time at the games, plus we spent a good but of time outside yesterday and she was really well behaved all weekend.

    • Lows? DH was in a pissy mood towards me on Saturday and it irritated me.

    • Watch anything good? Nah

    • Eat/make anything good? No

    • Read anything good? No

    • FFCs, AWs, vents, observations, etc? I love our neighbor and am bummed that he's just renting while he looks for a house to buy. I wish he would buy that house but he's not interested. I hate townhouse living and wish that happiness in your own house wasn't so dependent on who is on either side of you. Our two year plan is to sell and buy a SFH, but that depends on the housing market and how much money we can manage to save while having two kids in daycare.
    • What are you looking forward to this week? Not much this week but we go on vacation in 12 days and I can't wait!! It'll be out last vacation for a couple of years (see the saving money for a house part above) so I want to truly enjoy ourselves.

    • Highs? Yesterday with DH was absolutely perfect.  He was in a great mood and we just got along really well.  Also scored a nearly new outdoor 2-seater chair and cushions from someone who had it out and marked "free" on our way home from Monkton.  It's probably a $300-$400 piece of furniture.
    • Lows? Overslept yesterday morning and missed my nephew's lacrosse game.
    • Watch anything good? caught up on Girls.
    • Eat/make anything good? I had crabs Saturday and we made steaks last night...it was a good food weekend.)
    • Read anything good? No.
    • FFCs, AWs, vents, observations, etc? I am tired of DH feeling fine on the weekends but waking up on Monday and calling out of work.  I do think that he is legitamately sick with sinus-type stuff right now, but at the same time I feel like he never fights through and pushes himself to go to work.  This causes huge fights between us.  I blame his parents because they never "made" him do anything when he was younger.  And I know that partially this is bi-polar driven too but it's just so frustrating to me.  I bust my a$$ at work to bring home a paycheck that barely gets us through.  And then he'll complain about money.  Yes if I say, "well you were sick and no paycheck will come in for xyz time" he'll get upset with me.  So it just gets old.  I just wish that I could have a healthy, happy husband that enjoyed his job.
    • What are you looking forward to this week? Seeing family friends on Wednesday night at my parents PLUS my brother is coming in to town on Wednesday and his girlfriend is coming in this weekend.  Definitely looking forward to family time!

    • Highs? Really enjoyed our no plans weekend with DH. Relaxed all weekend, took some naps, got a new closet installed for the nursery.
    • Lows? Nothing really bad happened this weekend.
    • Watch anything good? We watched 2 movies, We Bought a Zoo and Contraband. I liked the first one better than the 2nd.
    • Eat/make anything good? Enjoyed some yummy Greek food from the festival
    • Read anything good? Not really
    • FFCs, AWs, vents, observations, etc? Vent- Random people need to stop making comments about my pregnancy. I've had 2 salespeople ask if we were having twins. Seriously?
    • FFC- I've loved almost every minute of the pregnancy but I'm really looking forward to this little making her appearance so that I can stop my daily injections. I've been doing once daily blood thinner injections since October and just started twice daily about 3 weeks ago. Really can't wait to stop.

    • What are you looking forward to this week? Next OB appointment is on Wednesday. Hoping I've made more progress :)

    • Highs? Had a great day home with the kids on Friday since daycare was closed.  A little teaser of what's to come this summer.
    • Lows? Claire woke up at 4:50 a.m. Saturday morning.
    • Watch anything good? Not really
    • Eat/make anything good? Nope
    • Read anything good? Finished Andy Cohen's book and devoured Three Little Words.  Fantastic read.
    • FFCs, AWs, vents, observations, etc?
    • AW: I have started jogging and am tracking my food.  I'm jogging better than I was when I got pg. with Claire, and I'm pretty proud of myself.
    • Vent: I wish my kids would sleep in on the weekends
    • What are you looking forward to this week? Last full week of school!!!  I have a happy hour on Friday that I've been looking forward to for a while!
