Weeken getaway with toddler within 2 hours

Thinking of doing a little weekend trip with son this summer to a resort somewhere within 2 hours.  Any recommendations in Poconos or elsewhere?  Was thinking of the Eden Resprt in lancaster- doing one day at Dutch Wonderland and other day relaxing and playing at pools.  Any other great ideas besides the shore?

  • We stay at Split Resort in the Poconos, it has a water park attached, we usually go in winter though but I know it has a lake and lots of activities in the summer too. There is also Great Wolf Lodge.

  • I was going to say Great Wolf. We've been a couple times and DS loves it there.

  • I've never been, but I've heard good things about Hershey Park.  Both of my bosses spend a weekend up there each summer.  One day is spent at the park, and another day lounging by the pool.

    Are you anti-shore??

  • Thanks!  I am not anti-shore- I just said besides shore because we already spend a lot of weekends at the shore in the summer so I was looking for something different for one weekend.  Great ideas so far!

  • Skytop Lodge in the Poconos is beautiful.  It is expensive, but all your meals and activities are included (that's how it used to be, not sure if it still is)

  • We just did a weekend (2 nights) @ Hershey park. They have something called a preveiw, where you can buy your tickets for one day and go the night before for free (from 7:30-10). We went back the next day till around 4 then back to the hotel for swiming and had dinner out. It was great! If you buy your tickets from Giant you get a free parking pass too!
