We made an offer on the house.
It was denied in about 25 minutes flat. Poor seller is delusional. They have renovated the kitchen, which looks fantastic, but the cabinets are KraftMaid, which is fine, but for this kind of house (and that price), I would expect custom. LAMINATE wood flooring in a portion of the house which makes NO sense to me because it is probably in less than 1,000 square foot of the house, adding real wood wouldn't have been a huge expense. And a lot of the stuff hadn't been replaced - doors were all original (doors are so cheap and easy to replace), the woodwork in a good portion of the house hadn't been replaced (again, cheap and easy) - it was probably a 40% reno, whereas ours has been a 100% reno. In the part of the house where they had replaced the woodwork, they hadn't bothered to caulk OR patch in nail holes. WTF. They bought the house in 2009, new sales price was $160k higher than that. So, if they can list their 40% reno for $160k more than they paid for it..what can we list OUR house for? (again, delusional)
But...it had a fantastic floor plan. There was SOME work to be done (again, doors and casing, all of which is cheap and easy) which is good for us, it is two stories and they had moved the laundry room upstairs which is fantastic, the size is perfect, the furniture we have will "go" with the aura of the house...so we'll see. The great thing is, unlike with this house, we know EXACTLY what to look for when looking at a house. If a person isn't going to get on their hands and knees and patch nail holes, what other short cuts are they taking? My guess is that they will have to continue to drop the price.

Well, for a ton of reasons but the biggest one being: there are a lot of things about our current house that I HATE and these aren't items we can change. Of those things, this house has 100% of those things perfect. Everything else, like shitastic laminate "wood" flooring, is fixable.
((and not that there is anything wrong with laminate flooring, there isn't but that was a huge mistake for the seller in this particular house))
lol I was about to say dang, I'm never showing PW pictures of my house with our laminate flooring. There's no reason in this neighborhood to have hardwood, though. No one does.

Sorry, I didn't mean to offend anyone. This is a 4,000 square foot house. Laminate flooring was a huge mistake. And it isn't even good laminate flooring either. Yech.
No worries -- not offended! In a house that huge, hardwood would be expected. And if you're going to put down laminate, put down the good stuff, man. We made sure we at least did that!
But the renos on your house are so great...
Even if this one doesn't pan out, I'm sure there's another out there. I can't believe you looked at the house and put an offer in though. :P
I mentioned to DH that the ladies on the nest seemed a tad...appalled that we had made an offer on another house when we had *just* finished our house and he said "Do they realize how BORING it is around here with you crying and stressing out about tile and paint samples?" So cute. We love the design work and we can't do anything else to this house. Plus, that house could potentially be a really good deal. And you all know how much I love a good deal.
