Book suggestions

I'm in the market for a new book to read.  Any suggestions?  What are you all reading?

Re: Book suggestions

  • Good question!

I recently finished A Discovery of Witches and then reread The Time Traveler's Wife and HAVE to find something new- Now since we aren't doing wedding stuff on the weekend, H has been playing a lot of video games (anyone else out there a Diablo widow??) and I need something to keep me occupied :/

  • Time Traveler's is a good book as mentioned above. I am also really enjoying a series by Allie Condle (spelling?) where the first book is called Matched. But here is a really great site that may help you find something exactly to your liking--http://whatshouldireadnext.com/

Also--depending on your tastes--another book called Room is an amazing read. However, it can be a little sad. But it is very well written

  • Also--I'm an English teacher and here is some from my book lists. (Some may be younger--young adult lit, but I love these books as an adult)

    Happy reading!

Also--Karen Kingsbury is an amazing author--but she is a Christian writer for anyone who may shy away from religious filled text. I love her though.

  • I'm reading "Dreams of Joy" which is the follow up book to "Shanghai Girls" both by Lisa See. I really liked the first one and the second isn't bad so far.

Then I have to start my next book for book club, which is ?An Invisible Thread: The True Story of an 11-Year-Old Panhandler, a Busy Sales Executive, and an Unlikely Meeting with Destiny" by Laura Schroff

  • I love this post.  I just now have gotten back into reading since the wedding and studying is over!  I am currently reading my Sister's Keeper Jodi Piccoult.  Love this book.  I think someone said it's a movie now (completely out of touch with the real world for so long).  It is a phenomenal read on the struggles with being the child born for your "spare parts" for you dying sister.  Highly recommend....
  • The Hunger Games Series

    Heaven Is For Real

    Pretty Little Liars Series

  • I'm almost finished with the Hunger Games series and am looking for a book to move on to next! I have a whole list of books I want to read and this post is just making me add more lol. I love reading and am glad I have more time for it now =)

I just started 'The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo' It took about 100 pages for me to get into it but so far I like it. We'll see if I continue on with the entire series once I'm done with this book. I'm looking forward to having more time to spend reading instead of wedding planning :)

  • What genres do you typically like?  Tell us a few examples of books that you have liked and we'll probably be able to give better recommendations!

One website I love is GoodReads - keeps tracks of all the books you've read and can give you suggestions based on what you liked/didn't like so much.  It's how I find new books since I devour them at a fast rate =]

  • I loved the hunger games books, going to start 50 shades of gray. The art of Racing in the Rain is a GREAT book.. if you're an animal (dog) loved you'll enjoy it.. it's told from the perspective of the dog! :)

Next two on my list!  I'm in cheap paperback mode right now though because of being on the beach on HM and in the backyard pool now at home.  My current book is The Island by Elin Hilderbrand.  I thought it was going to be complete fluff, but I am really enjoying it!
