After looking at my wedding photos, I realized that I should really crack down on losing weight. I have tried different things and have been trying for most of my life to lose weight. The major reason I am considering Jenny Craig is because I need assistance on my portions.
Has anyone gone on this diet? Have you had success or no success? Please tell me what you know..
Re: Jenny Craig?
I've lost 30 lbs on Jenny Craig before and then I lost 20lbs on it again a few years later.
It definitely works! I liked it because I literally didn't have to think about what I was taking in since it's their pre-packaged food (which doesn't taste too bad... you find your favorites). That also set me up for failure a bit because I stopped too soon before they could teach me how to come off the diet appropriately and I gained everything back both times.
I'm now trying WeightWatchers, which I think is going to better set me up for success with keeping the weight off.
Please feel free to message me for more information! (: I've got plenty. Both are great programs, but if you do Jenny you need to stick it out all the way through.
I've never tried Jenny Craig but currently have lost 80 pounds on Weight Watchers (still working on it I have about 100 left). It's a good plan for me (I've done it before) because I don't want to be deprived and also because I need to learn to eat right- for the rest of my life, not just until I'm skinny/healthy.
Jenny Craig may be the program for you, but I'm kinda partial to WW.
Does Jenny Craig have only prepackaged meals, like Nutrisystem?
Assuming it does, I worry about the programs that portion everything out for you. They're great for initially losing the weight, but they don't teach you how to eat in everyday life. Once you've lost the weight, you can't just reach for a prepackaged meal for the rest of your life to keep the weight off, you have to go back to normal dining, making meals yourself, or eating out, and if you haven't learned what food choices to make in all situations of life, you'll gain the weight right back.
Weight Watchers is simplified calorie counting with a support system. They do a good job of teaching you proper portion sizes as well as smart meal choices. Its not as easy as the prepackaged meal systems, because you have to keep a food diary and make the choices yourself. But I think it better enables you to make the lifestyle change needed to lose weight permanently.
If you're pretty self motivated you can try Sparkpeople.com. Its a free online food diary and support community and, if you read a few articles and follow their meal plans, you'll definitely lose weight. Good luck!
