MOH in a wedding... idea for gifts for bridal party?

I am 1 of the 2 matrons of honor for a friends July wedding. for my wedding a few years ago the bride was my moh and made the bridemaids and myself t-shirts for everyone to wear the morning we were getting ready. they were great and everyone loved them! i want to do something for the bridal party but have zero craft ability. The other MOH is not interested in doing anything with me.
I also do not want to spend a bundle by ordering wedding party shirts.
Any thought? The bride is already making champagne flutes for everyone to use while we're getting ready.
The wedding is out of town and evryone is flying to it, so can't be anything too big.
thoughts?

  • Flip flops. You can wear them while getting ready or at the reception to dance if your feet hurt.

Just curious---Is she doing something on her own or not interested in doing anything because of the expense?

The last wedding I was in, I bought the makings for mimosa and a fruit platter for everyone to share while we were getting ready. No one else wanted to do anything because of the expenses already incurred for the shower, bach party, dresses, shoes etc., etc.

My wedding, the MOH did not do anything for the bridal party. Another bridesmaid put together a cooler of soft drinks, water and light snacks and I did the mimosa.

  •  By sheer chance, I found several pairs of plush bedroom slippers in a color that matched my BM gowns.:) I gave those as a gag gift to the ladies in the bridal party.

Can you bake? What about some type of cutesy sugar cookies? Everybody likes edibles.:)

Cute also: Silver compact mirrors. You could take them to one of those mall kiosks and have the first initial of each lady engraved on them.:) Things Remembered carries them, also -- so do lots of places.:)

In keeping with the t-shirt theme you could buy the t-shirts at Target ($5 right now) and buy iron on letters (at a craft store) to put their names or whatever on the t-shirts. In my family my sisters and I do that for the sister getting married and the FBIL for the dress rehearsal and rehearsal dinner.

  • I've only been a bridesmaid, but even then I did not receive or expect gifts from the Maid/Matron-of-Honor, so whatever you choose to do should probably just be something casual like others suggested - like baking or bringing some treats for the morning of the wedding like when you are at the salon or at a house getting dressed together.  When asked, you can say it's a "just because" gift for all to add a nice touch, and not make too big a deal out of it that could make the other matron-of-honor feel awkward.

Or, you could mention to the matron-of-honor that you're bringing food or champagne to the morning-of gathering, and ask if she wants to contribute to something.  She could be worried that what you were thinking would cost too much, like you were thinking of buying a piece of jewelry for everyone.  If she finds out you were just thinking of food items and drinks, then she might be a little more open to contributing.

  • I am super jealous!!!  My sister was my MOH and I paid for lunches for my sister, mom, hairdresser, and myself.

  • Make them each a back ground for a 4x6 or 5x7 picture from one of the wedding events (shower, misc. get-togethers, getting ready for ceremony, ceremony or the reception). Get an inexpensive frame at Walmart (around $3 for 8x10) and watch some Youtube videos. Hobby Lobby, JoAnns and A.C. Moore sell individual papers for backgrounds and stickers. If you don't want to make all of them yourself, you could invite everyone over (if there's still time) and have them make their own. You could also contact a paper crafting rep from Stampin' Up or Close To My Heart. Email/call them and explain what you want to do -they can help you with ideas and you can order all the stuff you need through them (or a similar company). They shouldn't hound you afterward about buying anything else either (they may email or call and leave a msg about a major upcoming sale, which you can politely decline due to lack of finds or interest; or not respond). Hope this gives you some inspiration. (And just think how awesome it will be for everyone to see how thoughtful you are!)
