Treats for a 6th grade class

I am bringing treats for the 6th grade class I volunteer with on Friday and I have no idea what to bring. Am I supposed to bring something healthy? Or do classes still get cookies and candy? If I wanted to do a little treat bag for each student, what could I put in it?

Re: Treats for a 6th grade class

  • I think if it's just a little treat, it can be something baked/not healthy ;)  Maybe Rice Krispie treats?  They are so easy and quick to make, and cut up and bag individually very well.

  • Make sure that nobody has any severe allergies. I know a lot of schools are nut-free and ban any kind of nuts - I'm sure you are aware of that, though. Smile

  • to eat there or to go home?

    how many kids?

are there restrictions that it has to be prepackaged?

  • After checking on limitations placed by the school, if you can, I'd go the treat route. I give my kid yogurt or fruit instead of pudding and her Halloween candy ends up tossed in the trash because she just doesn't eat candy often enough to get through it, but I think it's silly when people (no one here!) get worked up over the occasional treat.

I probably wouldn't go so far as to do a treat bag unless you are required to utilize pre-packaged foods only (which I know some schools require). In that case, I'd get a mix of small candy items and mix 'em up in the bags. If the pre-packaged thing isn't a requirement, I wouldn't bother with a bag, but rather just hand out Rice Krispies treats or brownies. They're easy to make up in bigger batches, cool, cut, and portion out.
