When did you give your LO peanut butter?
My brother is extremely allergic to peanuts. He touches peanut butter and gets itchy. He gets it in his eyes, in a cut, in his mouth... and it requires an epi-pen at a minimum, and when he was little, required hospitalization to get the allergic reaction under control and his breathing back to normal.
I have no allergies, and neither does DH (or my parents) but I'm petrified of giving DS peanut butter for the first time. DH just wants to do it because he's sure he won't be allergic, but I am so anxious over the idea of watching him swell up and having to call 911 if he turns out to have an allergy.
At what age did your LO have peanuts, and did you just do it at home or have an allergy test or something? Because the best plan I have right now is to sit in the hospital parking lot and give him a spoonful of PB and see what happens. DH thinks I'm nuts and I'm not sure I disagree with him!

we have no food allergies in the family or expended so we did at about 1.5 yrs old. My pedi is very good about food and lets you try anything except honey before a year.
BTW, it is usually the 2nd exposure of anything that you need to worry about for allergies.
My nephew has a tree nut / peanut allergy, so we waited until 2 yrs with DS. We had benadryl on hand just in case. With DD, she was very much exposed to it because DS had it quite a bit... so she tried it around 18 months ago.
I know that my nephew's first reaction to PB was after the first time (like Jerrah mentioned), so just be sure to take care with subsequent exposure to PB!
