Grand Haven/tri-cities area restaurant?
Any recommendations? DH and I will celebrate our 5 year anniversary this Saturday and have a sitter...we've been to Porto Bello, The Kirby, and Snug Harbor and have been very underwhelmed by all 3. Any spots off the beaten path or hidden gems?? Just looking for a casual but yummy meal. TIA!

Re: Grand Haven/tri-cities area restaurant?
I was hoping D&P would see this post as she lives out that way. There is a place next to Dee Lite on Washington. I can't think of the name. They have a few tables along the side walk. They had really good fish tacos. I thought it was connected to Dee Lite, but I know it isn't The Grand.
This was also on our list of resturants that we GR Nesties had put together years ago. I think this is the place you can see the back patio from the boardwalk.

There are also a lot of nice places in Holland if you are interested.
I used to work in Grand Haven. JW's is a bar in the middle of town...not near the boardwalk. They are supposedly known for their white chili, but I didn't find it to be anything spectacular.
The Pavilion is next to Dee Lite, with a few tables outside. It's okay. I'd consider both of those better lunch places than nice dinner places.
The Rosebud is decent...located along Washington, on the corner of (I think) First. I wasn't wowed or anything though.
Honestly, Snug and Porto Bello are kind of considered the "nicer" restaurants for dinner in Grand Haven, with the Kirby up there because of price as well. And if you've already tried them...I'm not sure you're going to find anything better in that immediate area.
You might want to head to Spring Lake and try Two Tonys Taverna Grille, or Old Boys Brewhouse. At least at Old Boys, you can sit outside on the deck, along the Spring Lake channel, for a nice setting. I've also heard Jack's at the Holiday Inn is nice, but I haven't been, so I can't vouch for it. But that is also along the water, on the Grand River channel.
