Anybody at FE Warren?

New here at the Nest, but have been on the Bump for awhile now!

Is anybody stationed at FE Warren? We just PCSed here a few weeks ago and I know NO ONE. DH is out at the guard flying C130s, but we're still connected to FE Warren. Haven't met any of his squadron yet and just looking for local people :)

  • I'm the one blt was talking about. I have no ties to the military though so I can't help you much with the base or anything. But I've lived here all my life so I know the city pretty darn well.

  • I'm actually good with the base, just looking for normal people around for potential social interaction haha! I'm still on the job hunt so my days are pretty much spent applying for stuff and working on our new house as my daughter is already in daycare. Do you know of anything/any place around to meet people- mommy groups, book clubs, just anything really!

Well since I was a single mom, I didn't really do much of that stuff....between working full time and then taking care of the kiddo, I didn't really get out much. I know the library has story time every week (a few times a week if I remember correctly), but other than that, I'm not sure. And I'm kind of a homebody any way so probably wouldn't have done that type of stuff had I known about it. :) Sorry I'm not much help!

  • I am at FE Warren, but I don't have any kids at all.  I do know the YMCA has a whole bunch of summer programs that might help you meet other kids and parents.  I used to babysit and took the kids up to Lions Park where there is a huge playground and the kids are super friendly and you can talk to parents.

Fall Hall and the Movie Theater sometimes do some kid events.  The Base church also has TONS of kids that go every week, so they might hook up with some kids there too.  The church also has a women's Bible study during the school year during AWANAS on Wednesday night.

There are fun events at Trails End that are more for adults than kids, but one time there was a magic show that was kind of cool.  They usually post the fun activities on the little dynamic message board as you're going through the gate.

  • I'm at FE Warren as well, no kids or anything though. I would check out "The Antelope" (you can pick it up at the commissary) and they have all kinds of activities that are posted on the digital boards that Moviegirl mentioned.
