So.... I have a number of things that I put multiples on the registry, ie, 2 different price points of spice racks, etc. Well, I got a number of these, but of course guests who didnt inform that it was a gift (or didnt include a gift receipt) AND didnt inform that it was off a registry at all (it doesnt show up on our registry as having been bought), and I dont need 2 of the same thing, especially when there were things we NEED that didnt get bought. How good is Bed Bath and Beyond at exchanging these items? Also we had a kitchenaid mixer on our registry and someone got us one thats the wrong color and bought it somewhere else (only know this because MIL asked us a long time ago what color to tell the people who got it because they saw them on sale soemwhere). It wouldnt be a big deal execpt its white and all our appliences and kitchen cabinates are dark/stainless steele, it looks so out of place....will BBB exchange it if its a product they carry but wasnt bought there? Again there is no gift receipt because of course we wanted it right...even though they KNEW what color we wanted and didnt get it.
The closest BBB is now 40 minutes away so I'd rather not lug everything down for them to say "sorry we dont care".. Any one have any experience with returns at BBB?
Re: BBB returns
We had a TON of stuff to return! We filled up a shopping cart and took it into the store. Some of the stuff we had gift receipts for and some didn't. They disregarded the gift receipts and did one large return for us. They give us store credit on receipt paper, which it the one thing I didn't like... seems like it would be easy to lose! I think everything we returned came directly from our registry, but we had no issues. It was pretty painless and the cashier was very pleasant about the whole thing!
Anything purchased at BBB I had no problem returning. It was super easy I didn't even take a gift receipt. They just gave me a gift card or added it to one I already had.
As far as the mixer I would say you could only take it back to the place it was bought.I have never heard of any store that would take something back not bought from there. You could always call the store and ask before you go.
As long as the mixer you got is carried at BBB, just bring the mixer in and say that the guest ordered the wrong color and did not give you a gift receipt. Don't mention it wasn't purchased there, and they will exchange it for the correct color right there in the store if they have the color in stock, otherwise they will order it for you (speaking from experience here). If you have any issues, just ask for the store manager - their job is to make you happy and they'll pretty much do whatever it takes to make that happen.
BBB has the best return policy of pretty much any store I've ever shopped in, especially for registry items. As long as you bring in your registry number with your returns, they'll be able to take care of it all at once, like PP said.
