If you worked out at all during pregnancy did it ever make you sick? Before I found out I was pg I was doing Jillian Michales "ripped in 30" but stopped because it made my heart rate soar and I read that was not good. Well I've been so sick and tired since then that I haven't worked out once...in 2 months.
Tonight I had more energy so I tried this "The Perfect Pregnancy workout" not only could I not do it all with her but I felt weird pulling/stretching in my lower abdomen. And im incredibly nautious. I dont think I got too hot and my heart rate was fine. I drank water but now I'm miserable.
Anyone else experience this? Does it go away? Thank you in advance.
Re: Moms and moms-to-be
I really wouldn't worry about your heart rate or getting too hot... getting your heart rate up every now and then is just as healthy during pregnancy as it is when you're not KU. As long as you're not running a marathon I'm sure you'll be fine. Pulling, stretching and even some cramping is completely normal. Your ligaments are stretching and everything else is moving to make way, you're bound to have some discomfort regardless of what you're up to.
I did pull one of my round ligaments a few months back and it hurt really bad for a couple weeks. My GP just told me to take it easy for a week or so until it felt better.
I go with how I feel. I stopped running, and switched to walking and doing the Summer Sanders prenatal workout. I tried running, but would get too much RLP, so I stopped, and my doctor said stop at 15 weeks anyway, though one of her colleagues said I could do what I felt comfortable with. Like Lindsay and Caitlyn said, things are stretching, ect, so take it easy. Heart rate isn't a huge concern anymore, they work off "perceieved exertion" which is how hard you're working. They say if you can still talk and carry on a conversation, you're fine.
For the past couple years, my sister and I have met up on Mondays to go to yoga or for a run and then have dinner. However, since she became pregnant we switched to running and walking (and then just walking) and a pre-natal yoga DVD (my imaginary babies loved the workout!). As she got further along, she would get the RLP when running (tried using a support belt but that brand didn't seem to help) and sometimes while walking. The doctor usually just told her to make sure she was drinking lots of water during the day. I mostly replied to this to recommend the DVD. It was Gaiam's Prenatal Yoga and my sister really liked it. She said she felt good after and it was helpful to learn some stretches she could do on her own when needed.
Hope your energy keeps returning!
This is all great info. Thank you all. I had no idea the heart rate thing didn really matter anymore. Thats good to know. I did end up getting really sick and was throwing up for what seemed like all night. I think the work out just triggered it or mad it worse. It was nice though to finally do something.
I hope the morning sickness subsides soon. It's gotten worse the last 2 weeks, but I don't want to complain about it. I know it's a part of pregnancy and I can't change it.
Wendy thank you for the DVD suggestion. I will have to check that one out. And how nice of you to work out with your sister and even change your own routine with her

If your blood pressure is high when you're relaxed it can be a sign that something might not be right, but that is why they check your BP at appointments. But that is the only instance where I can think that your heart rate would matter.
Yeah all I remember reading at the beginning was that if your heart rate gets too high, your heart is unable to pump blood to the baby. I looked into it because I typically work out at my max heart rate. It sounds like that's not such a fear later on then? To be honest it'll be a while before I even get up up THAT high anyway lol
