Is anyone in the field of radiology?

I am looking for a major career change and am very interested in becoming a radiologist. I plan to start some classes in the fall (biology, etc) that are pre-recs to get into the program. I was looking to get a sense of what the job is like, what part of the field are you in, what type of setting are you in (hospital, clinic, etc), etc.

Thank you for any insight you can give me.

Re: Is anyone in the field of radiology?

  • Do you mean a radiologist (MD) or a radiology tech?

  • No rad techs are being hired in my area.

Have a look at your medical want ads, both in the paper and on line. See how plentiful the job ads are.

You can also volunteer in a radiology department. try all 3 shifts so you can get a good idea of what really goes on.

You may not get your choice of the day shift when you graduate; this means evenings or the overnight shift. That's an entirely different atmosphere, not to mention you have to get used to the hours, especially if you work midnite until 8 am.

    Good luck.
