Philly Property Tax Homestead Exemption
What is this exactly? I just read an article that says you can fill out an application before July 31 for this.

Yup. And there are VERY conflicting reports as to wether it is automatic, if you need to apply, etc.
Unpopular opinion time, our taxes will probably go up at least $1000. We will most likely send our kid to our kick ass public school. So while this is normally the kind of stuff we would be into, the Numbers have been kind of "eh, whatever" about the whole thing.
In PA, you need to apply. I am in Delco and didn't know about it until icebunie told me.
I am curious to see how much this will actually save. Our property taxes are significantly more here than in the city

This is where it gets confusing. They are talking about an additional $30,000 homestead exemption just for Philly, enacted by City Council, basically to offset how much taxes in certain neighborhoods would jump under the AVI if enacted. That they are saying you may not end up having to apply for -- it would eb be automatic. Or you might have to apply. The whole thing is confusing.
Our civic association is doing a presentation tomorrow, we are going to try to go. It's at the orphanage of you want to attend.
