But it's really about the kids for me. I don't care how awful it is that someone can't or won't find a job. I don't think kids should starve or go homeless because their parents are unemployed or underemployed (or can't find a job that will cover day care + bills).

Ooooh, that might be my UO. We live near the preserve trails, and nothing makes me more insane than the hoards of bikers on the highway causing huge traffic back ups.

Agree. Whether or not the parent is a huge fcvk up is irrelevant to me. No one wants to see the system abused, but I should hope we wouldn't make the children suffer. They didn't ask to be born and they are completely dependent on their parents. Don't screw them over.

I started to read that, and felt my blood boil so I had to stop. Those girls are not living in reality.
It's as if they heard one story about someone somewhere that was abusing the system and it is what they base their entire opinion on.
I have a family member who has had what I consider to be a bogus lawsuit against a former employer for a supposed back injury. It has been going on for 3+ years. He has no chance of ever getting any money if by some stretch he were to receive judgement from this lawsuit since the former employer was arrested and has the IRS on his butt, etc. He is addicted to painkillers and has a history of drug abuse. Another family member pays their rent (>$2000/month), their 2 car payments (>$500 each), and various other bills. This family member also pays the lawyer. I know that she does it because she doesn't want the kids to suffer. They collect food stamps and welfare, and his wife signed something that says she is his caretaker so that she doesn't have to look for work or take classes that would help her find a job. They completely abuse the system and other people that help them. It makes me sick.
This does not make me think that this is the norm, or that if you can't find a job after a year you should starve.
