Are any of you guys planning on heading somewhere with your hubs for your one year? H and I were planning on going to Washington to do some Hiking and outdoorsy things, but this new little bundle of joy kind of got in the way of that! So I think we might just take a long weekend and go to Traverse City or Mackinaw or something just to get away just the two of us. With DD and LO on the way we don't get us time very often

Re: Anniversary Trips
We're planing the same thing!
I'm also from Michigan - I lived in TC for quite awhile and I always enjoy going back so I think we're going to get a nice room for two nights for our anniversary in TC.I went to Culinary school in TC and they have a restaurant open for lunch so we'll probably stop there. There's also a fun corn maze and apple cider and doughnuts which I will take part in! Unfortunately, no winerys for us - I'll be 6/7 months pregnant!
We also thought of doing the Bed and Breakfast thing - there's a lot of nice ones in MI, but it wasn't really what I was looking for - we also thought of the Amway in Grand Rapids. I think we'll end up in TC.
I've never cared for Mackinaw too much, but it is pretty.
Yep we will be in New Orleans for the week of our anniversary.

We were hoping to hit up Italy for our first anniversary, but due to real estate issues (my apt hasn't sold and hasn't had a tenant renting it out in 4 months) we have to put this on hold for a few years. Our new plan is to head down to FL, visit with some family for a couple days then hit up Disney. KM - unless your husband is the biggest party-pooper ever, there's NO WAY he wouldn't have fun. He needs to get his act together! I've never seen anyone (even grown men) not have fun at Disney!
You're coming to my neck of the woods. Finger Lakes wine tour -- that's my recommendation.

I really don't get why he wouldn't want to go. Does he realize there is more to Disney then rides for kids?
H and I are going on a short cruise, 4 nights. He has never cruised before so I am crossing my fingers he likes it. I say it's my first since the last time I went was freshman year of high school with my family. And we will be spending a couple a days in Miami. I'm really excited and hell or high water I will go on this trip.
We did Disney as part of our honeymoon and it was H's first time there. He wasn't too excited for it either, but he ended up having a great time. He only rolled his eyes a few times when I got excited over more kiddie-things like the characters walking around
We have no plan right now because we're hoping I get a better job and we can move. Then we'll see how our finances are. In a perfect world I'd love to do Vegas or Nola.
This is how much he doesn't want to go...
I told him I would go with a friend then (thinking he'd realize how serious I was about going, and he'd finally give). Nope. He said "Well, if you do that I'll give you $500 towards it... because I know how much you want to go." While that is nice of him, why won't he just go!? You bet I'll make him go once we have kids!

Either DH and I will plan a weekend trip, or just go out for a nice dinner. We haven't really talked about it much.
As for Disney...we both really want to go! We have a niece that just turned 3, and so we'll probably go as one big family once we have kids...that is unless they go before hand. But if they do that...we still may go with them as a family trip (his parents, sister, her husband, and our niece). I can't wait to go back to Disney!!

Ditto this. And when you drive by buffalo you might as well check out Niagara Falls. It's only 20 minutes out of the way and one of those "should see" things.
On the Disney thing, honestly, I wouldn't be stoked on it either. If the kiddo ever wants to go, that's a different story, but its just not something we are into. I would maybe try to compromise or pick another option altogether and go to Disney with a friend on a different trip. If you're celebrating your anniversary, it should be somewhere y'all can agree on. Just my thoughts on it.
Hahaha then maybe you shouldn't force it
Maybe make it a trip to Florida with one day in Disney? Then the other time you can do stuff he wants to do and you both want to do. That's more how our trip to Florida was. Disney was only 2 days of it. We went to the original Hooters in Clearwater at H's request
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?!?!?!? That's insane!!! Have you told him that he can actually go drinking around the world?!? One day at Epcot and he'll be hooked!
Meganiobe! Yay! Congrats on the new LO!!!!
As for our anniversary, we will be moving to NC close to the outer banks, so DH said we could rent a beach house in Nags Head for the weekend! Excited!
We're going to Disney! H has never been there and is so f-ing excited to go. It's almost as if I'm taking a kid.
kmgrecco...just come in my luggage. It's okay.
Make sure to tell Disney that it's your honeymoon, your husband will get hit on by all of the princesses. Cinderella's step sisters went up to him and asked if he had a brother. When he said he only had sisters they gave him an evil look.
The food there is great, if you research and find good reviews. We had dinner in Cinderella's castle and it was during the fireworks, it was awesome.
Vegas.
We're heading down the Vegas way for the Age of Chivalry Renaissance Festival which is the 12th-14th, so right before our 1 year.
The plan right now is to go camping and take advantage of a three day weekend with our anniversary falling on Columbus Day. Besides camping, we'll go hiking, apple picking and maybe stop by a few wineries.

my read shelf:

You are coming right through our neck of the woods too...1st exit off of 90 after you enter New York. Lots of great wineries in the area and B&B's if you are at a stopping and staying the night point. Plus, a stop at Niagara Falls is a must!
My favorite winery is Noble (http://www.noblewinery.com/)...that's where we had our rehearsal dinner. Another great one is 21 Brix (http://www.21brix.com/) If you were to get off I-90 in North East, PA and get on Route 20, you would go right by 2 more of my favorites Arrowhead (http://www.arrowheadwine.com/) and Heritage (http://www.heritagewine.biz/)
This is a good website for the Lake Erie Wine Trail (http://www.lakeeriewinecountry.org/)
If you want to pm me your mailing address, I'd be happy to send you some of the visitor's books for the area! That time of year there are a lot of apple festivals, corn mazes, grape harvesting and winery events, and cemetary tours. There is also a beer and wine fest and a fall festival up at Peek and Peak resort. (http://www.pknpk.com/)
