Wednesday Randoms

Ok, this is kind of a rant:  Really WZZM, a story about a family being reunited with their missing iguana is headline, front page worthy?!  No wonder I don't watch local news.  It's ridiculous.

  • You're telling me. Ugh. The things that make the news.

     How is everyone?

  • Morning! Really, a missing iguana made headlines? I guess it's better than a crime making headlines, right? We watch the Disney channel in the morning here and by 11pm I am too tired to watch the news.

My day will consist of a little cleaning and getting ready for my Tastefully Simple open house tonight. Anyone who wants to come is more than welcome!! Seems like it will be a nice day today so Hannah and I will play outside too.

  • I had interest in the iguana, but I shouldn't have been able to get up to date info so easily from local news sources.  There was a city comission meeting yesterday.  There's a resolution proposed to restrict city employees' insurance from covering most abortions.  The food trucks were on the agenda.  There are so many newsworthy items happening right now.  And they lead off with a pet getting lose?  Oye.

Willa's butterflies emerged yesterday, and we got to see one come out.  It was so cool!

  • I followed the live tweeting from the Rapidian hoping to hear something about the food trucks, sounds like it was tabled?

My Honduras trip is confirmed, except it will be in July, luckily after my bike trip so I can get more training in :-) Not that 35 miles two days in a row requires a lot of training, but I still feel better having an extra 10 days of training.

  • I feel betrayed by a friend of mine from back home. I had told him that if he got all of his problems taken care of and quit drinking, that he could come live out here with hubby and I to get away from the town he is in where there's a lot of drugs, getting into trouble, etc and we would help him find a jobm etc,. He was staying with a good friend of his to get clean. Well I found out last night that he has been lying along - his drinking is worse, he has to go to court on Monday for a fine he didn't pay, and just ran off with his friend's wife. I feel let down. I had hope in something that this person could change and want to better their lives etc. when given an opportunity to start bettering themselves, etc. I guess I will just be more guarded now.

It's hard when a friend is dishonest, and self destructive.  Maybe it's time to cut ties.  It's a shame, but he doesn't seem interested in letting you help.  Sometimes people just don't want to change.  Better to not be surrounded with those types of people KWIM?  Try not to let him get you down.

I am cutting ties with this friendship. A friendship shouldn't be built upon lies and that's what he did. I don't accept that.  Thanks for the advice :)

  • Good Morning!

I'm glad the iguana was safe, but I agree, that seems like that should be the story at the end of a newscast when they do a little fluff piece.

I made these for dinner last night and we loved them.  We used our favorite salsa for the recipe and dipping, so I think that helped too:

    Black Bean and Corn Quesadillas

I love that recipe!  It's quick and easy.  It's one of my go-to week night meals.

  • Now i want quesadillas. Sounds better than the PBJ sandwich I have for lunch.

  • Sorry to hear about your friend Charity. It's hard to help those who won't help themselves. :(

GRSP - That is really cool about the butterfly! We have a robin's nest under our deck and we watched the last bunch of eggs hatch, the birds grow, and then learn how to fly. Now there is another set of eggs in there and we are excited to watch it all again. It's fun! I bet your daughter really enjoyed getting to see the butterfly emerge.

  • Charity, I wouldn't take your friends stumbling's personally.  He obviously had addiction problems, and no matter how golden your offer was, he needs help beyond what you can offer.

Hannah's mom, Willa, Henry and I all held our breath as the last one came out.  Neat about the robins!  Is Hannah old enough to get what's going on?  Fun to have life so close up!

Juli, we do that recipe, too.  Yum.

I think we're going to go take a walk at the zoo.  I love that our membership allows us to go for just an hour or 2 and we don't feel pressured to see and do everything in one day.
