Father's Day Gifts

I am trying to come up with ideas for DH for a Father's Day gift.  He has so much (too much) stuff- even for his hobbies, he has every trinket/gadget/add-on I can imagine.  His time is also super limited with the two jobs and house projects he's working on, plus training for this Philly Tri.  That being said, I'm thinking of maybe trying to plan something fun that he could do while we are on vacation in August and he hopefully has a chance to breathe and enjoy whatever it is.  We will be vacationing in North Wildwood, but could travel to other shore points within reasonable distance.  Any ideas for fun outings I could look into?  It could be something for just him or something he and I could do together, or something us plus Aisling could do.

Re: Father's Day Gifts

  • Does he like any kind of water sports?  DH swore up and down he was going to go parasailing and rent a jet ski when we were away, but I think he chickened out and didn't want to admit it.  I am not sure if they have any such things in NWW. Are there any concerts or shows coming up that he would like and the two of you could a date night?  With the way the Phillies are playing, you may be able to score some good tickets (Hall of Fame Club) on the cheap from Stubhub and the three of you could go to dinner and a game.

  • Hmmmmm... I am in a tough spot with DH as well.  His bday is immediately after Father's Day and our anniversary.  I am covered for gifts because I bought our partial Nats ticket plan but I need gifts from DS.

    - spa gc for post Philly Tri (my DH is a man spa wh0re)

    - mini golf and ice cream as a family

    - fishing or whale watching

    - a night out with the boys for cigars and fancy whiskey

    - if he gets dressed up for work (I don't think he does though), cufflinks.com has a ton of cool and different stuff.

  • Thanks ladies!  DH is into water sports (well, trying them- not that he's "good" at them- haha) so maybe I could look into jet skiing or something and see if a friend could come meet up with him for a day of that since I'm guessing that's not an activity advised for me at 8 mos. preggo.

Erin- that's kind of why I'm stuck too- his birthday was in May so I feel like I just did the gift and have a family dinner party thing.  I'm wiped.  He loves spa type stuff too, but hasn't even had the time to cash in on a pedicure gift cert. he got for his bday, so maybe I can look for a place I could send him to down the shore.

I just feel like whatever I give him, he would have a better chance of enjoying while we are away and he can't be as easily distracted by a house project that catches his eye or a phone call about an extra swim practice or a student needing help getting in the way.
