Moms - How Many Do I Need?
Since my shower is now over and done with, I'm assessing all the gifts and things we have, and I'm not sure if I have enough or too many of certain things. I now have 7 hooded towels, 26 washcloths, and 4 crib sheets. Should I return any of these? The washcloths I'm inclined to keep all of, just because I know I can use them as wipes since we're going to CD and I've heard the washcloths work well for that purpose. But the towels and sheets I'm unsure about. We have 2 waterproof crib mattress pads too, and I was given the tip to layer, pad, sheet, pad, sheet. We also have 4 of the Carter's Stay Dry multipurpose pads, which I could also use as a sheet saver type thing. I did get this too,

Re: Moms - How Many Do I Need?
I would keep 4-6 hooded towels.
I like the baby washcloths for bath time, but I don't like them as rags to wash their face. I think we have 12 washcloths and we never go through them all. I find that they are too thin to do a good clean up job (and I would think this is the same when used as a wipe).
I have 2 crib sheets and that has been enough for us. Parker has only made a mess in his crib once though so I might not be the best person to ask. I personally think the pad, sheet, pad, sheet set up might be overkill. As far as multipurpose pads go, we used these for the first several months and loved them. I used them on the changing pad not the crib.
Somethings are trial and error. If you aren't sure you might as well keep it but don't take it out of the package. If you end up needing/wanting it you already have it, but if you don't then you can take it back for store credit later. Or you could take some things back and if you end up needing/wanting it get it later.
Take back the hooded towels. You don't need those, KR has 2 and I rarely use them, I usually just wrap him up in a big towel.
I never used a "baby" wash cloth really, but if you are going to use them as wipes then I would keep them.
Crib sheets-eh, I've never had to change 4 times in a row, but better safe than sorry?
And I never laid that much stuff on KR's matteress-but I was very lucky and he never spit up. Layering that stuff makes way more sense if your kid does that on a regular basis.

I was always told that as an infant, the most accurate way to check temperature is rectally, so I wouldn't have used that. Plus, Mags hated the pacifier, so it wouldn't have worked for us.
I forgot to answer your pacifier question, but I agree with Krissy. We always do rectal temp checks.
I like the hooded towels. And I only do Parker's laundry once a week so I needed more than a couple. I like the thicker ones though and not the thin (ike washcloth thin) ones.
We never used the pacifier thermometer that was given to us.
We only use one hooded towel and only sometimes use it, we mostly used our towels once he was bigger.
Washcloths, unless you are using them for wipes that is a lot!
We love the hooded towels, so I would keep those. That does seem like a lot of wash cloths. I say that because that is about how many we have and we do NOT go through them enough to have that many. We have 3 sheets and I've only used 2 of them. We have 2 mattress covers and that seems perfect because while one is in the wash I just put the other one on.
We have two hooded towels and I really love them. I would keep at least two depending on how often you plan on doing laundry.
I would keep all the washcloths. If you are planning on using them for CD wipes you will need them all for sure. Also, I find now that Kenzie is on solids I go through a lot more washcloths than I did before. Again it all boils down to how often you want to do laundry.
We have three crib sheets and I could have done with two. We never really had any diaper blowouts, etc in the crib so by the time I wash one the other is out of the laundry. I would probably keep all 4 though just because.
I've never used a pacifier thermometer. I actually never even knew there was such a thing. We do under the arm with a regular thermometer.
We go though wash clothes like crazy in our house, so I'd keep them all. When Kyle was really little we would use them to cover his boy parts every time we changed his diaper. Boys spray ... Especially in the beginning!! Now, we keep some upstairs for bathtime, but most of them stay in the kitchen for cleaning up after meals.
Sheets I think we have 4 and hooded towels we had maybe 8 but we don't use them anymore because Kyle to too big. I think you would be good with 4 or 5.
