One day in Orlando: Which Disney resort?

A group of my college girlfriends and I take a trip each year, and this year we are going to Orlando and staying in nearby Davenport, FL.  Our trip is only three nights, and we are only planning on one day to devote to Disney.  Which park would be the best pick?  I know absolutely nothing about Disney.  The only Disney resort I've been to was in Paris.  We have a group of 10, in our mid-30's.  TIA!

Re: One day in Orlando: Which Disney resort?

  • What time of year?  If its when Epcot has the Food and Wine fesitval, I would recommend there.  Otherwise, I am one who likes all 4 parks (despite growing up in Orlando, working at Disney, and visiting all the time) so really, IMO any park would be fun.
  • We will be there the third weekend in July.  On a Saturday.  I bet it won't be hot or crowded at all.
  • I would say to do Magic Kingdom, its fun even for adults. Who doesnt love to act like a kid.

  • Animal Kingdom closes the earliest of the parks so i would rule that out.  Hollywood Studios doesnt usually take us a full day, so id rule that out too.  I think Epcot or Magic Kingdom would be great, depends if you want to do more rides (Magic Kingdom) or go more for experiences (Epcot.)

  • I love Epcot and Animal Kingdom.

My heart is as open as the sky.

  • For just one day I would do Epcot or Hollywood Studios. I think Epcot usually has longer hours though so that might be a better bet.
  • I'd do Epcot or MK.  DHS never takes us a full day, neither does DAK (plus that park closes earlier than the others most of the time).

I love Epcot but if I could only choose one park it would be MK.  I personally would want the "Disney magic" of a traditional experience, and after 30+ years of visiting (with 20+ trips under my belt), that's still the park that does it for me.

  • I LOVE Magic Kingdom, but I think with a group of girlfriends I would do Epcot.  You can have some fun drinks, eat some fabulous desserts (and other food) and do some shopping in the world showcase, but you still get the rides element with stuff like Test Track, Soarin', etc.  I don't think you could go wrong with either park, but if I was doing a girls trip I would do Epcot.

Yes, I agree with this....I love Soarin!! If you go on the ride, make sure you request the front row lol...Mission Space is a cool ride and there are two different types of the ride, a milder version and the regular one... There is a lot more to do at Epcot I guess for adults and you can explore all different types of cultures..I believe at night time too they have a light show in the lagoon or lake by the world showcase...Hope you and your friends have fun!!!

  • It depends what you like the best...if you like roller coasters, them maybe magic kingdom which has different kinds of roller coasters and rides.

If you like animals then magic kingdom.  The light parade is also really cool.

If you like the disney type shows then hollywood studios.

Epcot is nice with the different countries.  My preference is Epcot.  I also like the fireworks show.

Maybe if you only have a day then go to universal studios instead.

  • My two favorites are MK and Epcot. I would choose MK for that experience but if the Food and Wine show is going on go to Epcot.
    This is my AE.
