Hello, ladies!
I just discovered Birchbox (I know, I know. And I work at a beauty store, too. You'd think I'd be up on this.)
So for those who love it... worth it for a beauty-addict? And anyone who has cancelled... why? Just trying to figure out if it's worth my $10 a month.
Re: Birchbox--worth it?
I currently have Birchbox and I haven't been super pumped about any of the boxes I've gotten.
A friend recently introduced me to the Test Tube which is about the same price as Birchbox, $30 + shipping every three months. So it's a little more expensive and it doesn't come monthly but you get deluxed to full sized samples which may be worth it.
ETA: I believe you can see past products that have been included in each month's Birchbox on their website.
Hey RA! I get Birchbox and I like it so far. I discovered it through this board actually.
I got this month's today and I liked what was in it. It's nice to try new things but I'm pretty make-up challenged and I know you aren't so I don't know if you'd like it as much. For me, it's worth the $10 just to get a little box of fun surprises in the mail once a month!
I tried BirchBox & MyGlam and ended up canceling them both- BB because it seemed I was getting a lot of one use samples and food items rather than beauty items, and MG because their samples were also kind of stingy, from weird brands, and their shipping was all over the place (charged late/ not at all/ bag was shipped late/ etc.). However- It seems MyGlam is over it's growing pains and is shipping out decent samples on time now. I'm on their wait list to sign back up.
What I LOVE is Sample Society (through www.beautybar.com). For $15 a month you get 5 truly deluxe size samples- And none of my boxes have been worth less than $35 each month. Plus, you get a $15 coupon to use on any of the brands in your box for the month and a free subscription to Allure. Their customer service is amazingly good, too.
Just my two cents
I had BB for three months, cancelled, had MyGlam for two and cancelled and returned to BB. Last month was better than this month, but I'm still going to stay with it for now.
I might look into Test Tube and the Sample Bar. Thanks, ladies!
Am--you know that if you ever want help with makeup, all you have to do is ask
If I manage to not have to work for the G2G at the end of the month, maybe I'll bring some of my supplies and we can have a G2G/Makeup Lesson.
