random - do you store your shoes in boxes?

I see people do this sometimes and while I guess its good keep dust/dirt off them, it seems like it takes an awful lot of extra room to do, plus I'd never remember what's where.

Re: random - do you store your shoes in boxes?

  • No, I just have those hanging shoe racks. I would never wear any of them if I had to rummage through boxes. Also I wouldn't have near enough space.
  • Only special occasion shoes - like heels I bought for a wedding or something. But I never wear them so it doesn't matter that I don't know what is in what box and there are only a couple of them anyway. The rest of my shoes are shoved in cubbies in my closet or in a basket downstairs.

  • Not typically - I would have no idea where anything is...plus we don't have the room for it.  I do have ... maybe 3 pairs of shoes still in their boxes...unintentionally though.

  • Yes and no. The shoes I wear every day, no, but seasonal and special occasion shoes I do. We have a shelf in our closet with a lot of room above, but not below. So in the winter, sandals would go in their boxes and winterish shoes stay on the floor. In summer, winter boots/winterish shoes go in boxes. I rotate them out with the seasons.

  • For the most part, yes. It's the shoes I don't wear often (not necessarily "nice", but they don't get pulled out all the time). The alternative is to throw them in a pile on my floor, and then I can't find anything. Most of the boxes have a picture of the shoe on the end of the box, so by far and large, I know exactly which shoes are where.

My tennis shoes, a pair of ballet flats I wear to work, and a pair of flip flops are in a huge shoe basket in our coat closet alongside E's tennis shoes, M's tennis shoes and her flip flops.

  • Yes and no. I have my everyday shoes in a shoe rack hanging in the closet, and I have some dress shoes in the boxes. I know which ones are which by the box. I also have a container for seasonal ones that get changed out all the time. All of my flip flops are in a clear box, so I can pull out the right mates. I obviously have too many shoes! • No. I have one of those things you hang on the back of a door. I also have shoes in our bedroom closet and in the hall closet.

  • No boxes for me, I have shelving on the floor of our closet for shoes.

  • I dont, since we moved they are thrown into a plastic tub so any that I dont wear regularly I will have to dig through to find otherwise the shoes I wear on a regular basis sit by the front door. FI keeps all his shoes in the boxes with the paper still kept inside of them when hes not wearing them. He says he does it to make sure they stay looking good, I gave up on trying to get him to take them out of the boxes but the top shelf in the closet is full of boxes from shoes and hats (another thing I dont get)!
