I'm heading back full-time to work next week. DS will be nearly 7.5 months. I know I've been really fortunate to have stayed home this long.
He'll be going to daycare which s literally a 1 minute drive from our house. My boss is very flexible; I asked if I could work from home the majority of the time until DS is 1 y.o. (to meet my goal of BFing for a year - yes, there are dedicated pumping spaces at work but I'd get a lot more done at home since I get up insanely early) and he said yes.
Now that I contemplate it, I could probably get to daycare and nurse much quicker than I could pump (they have a glider for moms who want to do this). Anyone do this instead of pumping - even for a feeding or two? Would certainly ease my fears about supply, etc. but wonder if it just makes the transition harder?
Re: Returning to work/daycare/BFing - ?
I wasn't BFing when DS went to daycare, but there were moms who would come in and nurse before work or on lunch breaks. Totally normal.
I don't think DS would have done well, though, if I went in on a lunchbreak. Just b/c he'd get excited when he saw me, and I had to leave again. So, I'd be saying "goodbye" twice in one day. And it wasn't b/c he disliked daycare (he loves it), it was just a wierd transition to see me in the middle of the day. But I have friends who do it at lunch and are fine, so it can't hurt to try! It's great you can work at home for a year!
