Today's Poll - Summer Camps

  • Did you go to summer camp as a kid?
  • If so, what kind of camps?
  • If you have kids old enough, are they going to camp this year and if so, what kind?
  • If you could go to summer camp now as an adult, what would your ideal camp be like?

Re: Today's Poll - Summer Camps

    • Did you go to summer camp as a kid? Yes.
    • If so, what kind of camps? Nature Camp at Lake Elkhorn. I also went to art camp one year but I hated it because the other girls in my classes were b!tches to me (we were 9).
    • If you have kids old enough, are they going to camp this year and if so, what kind? DS is not old enough.
    • If you could go to summer camp now as an adult, what would your ideal camp be like? Pinterest-y maybe, haha. Crafts, baking projects, etc. Or if there's a camp where you can lie on the beach and relax I'd be all over that too!

    • Did you go to summer camp as a kid? Yes
    • If so, what kind of camps? Girl Scout Camp, Horseback Riding Camp, Camp Letts and camp at Londontown Public House
    • If you have kids old enough, are they going to camp this year and if so, what kind? n/a
    • If you could go to summer camp now as an adult, what would your ideal camp be like? Boating, horseback riding, cooking, scrapbooking, sewing and hammock nap time.
    • Did you go to summer camp as a kid? I went to a couple day camps and sleep away camp 2x
    • If so, what kind of camps? I went to a general interest day camp in Florida at the school my grandmother taught at (and stayed with her for month); I went to a riding day camp and a sleep away riding camp.
    • If you have kids old enough, are they going to camp this year and if so, what kind?  DD's preschool bills itself as "camp" in teh summer, but its the same teachers, they just have more outings and performers and do more fun stuff - pool, carnival, ice cream parties, etc.  Of course I pay $$ for all the extras too.  When she's older, I really hope we can send her to sleep away camp - it was really awesome for me and really helped me develop my confidence/self-esteem.
    • If you could go to summer camp now as an adult, what would your ideal camp be like?  Perfect sleep away camp - lots of swimming and horseback riding, lots of big meals, campfires, sing alongs, lots of time for reading in a hammock!

  • Did you go to summer camp as a kid?   I went to an overnight camp once for a week and I hated it, I am not an outdoorsy kind of a girl, I never went back. If so, what kind of camps?  Overnight camp with typical activities like swimming, boating, sports, crafts, etc. If you have kids old enough, are they going to camp this year and if so, what kind?  No kids, but when I do, if they really want to go, sure. If you could go to summer camp now as an adult, what would your ideal camp be like?  One with a pool and a lake/boats and unlimited free time so that I could spend it all at said pool and lake without being forced into archery or dodge ball or red rover or whatever other torturous games they make you play in 90-degree heat at summer camp.  Oh and indoors accomodations that do not come with snakes and spiders.  *shudder*  Can you tell I really hated my camping experience?  Lol.  I actually mailed my parents a letter on the 2nd day begging them to come and pick me up and bring me home.  They claimed that they never received it.
    • Did you go to summer camp as a kid? yes
    • If so, what kind of camps? I think we went camping while in girl scouts, and we also did church camp.
    • If you have kids old enough, are they going to camp this year and if so, what kind? Kids aren't old enough
    • If you could go to summer camp now as an adult, what would your ideal camp be like? Oh I don't know. Maybe cooking, reading, lounging all day. That sounds like a vacation to me! LOL

LOL - I forgot about VBS!  I went to one when I was really young. .. .like 6 or 7 w/ my BFF - it was this total Fire and Brimstone type Southern Baptist Church; I was horrified and remember thinking "I don't think my mom knows what kind of place this is."  We did dumb little kid crafts too, but they freaked me out.  Surprisingly. ..  I never went back to that camp again!
