Anyone been to Mexico in September?

How bad is it, really? Is it just the typical tropical afternoon rain or is it really all day?

Re: Anyone been to Mexico in September?

  • In my 20+ years going to the Yucatan, my experience has been a fast and hard rain shower for about 10-20 minutes in the morning and then a beautiful day follows.  (This is my average; someone else may have a different opinion)

  • Thank you! It's either September or March, so hoping I can convince my husband :)

while the weather could be beautiful, i would strongly advise getting travel insurance just in case, since september tends to be a pretty active part of hurricane season.
  • it may pour all day, it may pour for just a short time during the day, it may not rain at all. it's that time of year when you have to expect anything can happen. no way to say for sure what will happen.

I went to Cancun for one week at the beginning of September last year.  It was beautiful and sunny every single day, except for one when we had about 2 hours of rain in the afternoon.  I know we got lucky with the weather.  It was wonderful there in September because it was so empty and relaxing.  We loved the lack of crowds.  But I guess its a gamble with the weather.

  • When we went, it barely rained. But, it was SO hot. I vowed never to go back to Mexico in September.

This - and we always go near the end of Sept./early Oct.  Have never had a problem.
