new mom gift basket

I want to put together a gift basket for my sister to give to her after the babies are born.  I have a couple things I'm going to put in there, but would like a few more ideas.

What items did you want/need in the hospital or the first few days you came home?  Or anything else that you'd like or would be special for a new mom?

Thanks!

Re: new mom gift basket

  • Maybe some snacks for in the hospital.

The only things I had to go out for in the first couple days after M was born was another Peri bottle, extra pairs of mesh undies, and pain relief from my tearing.  Not fun stuff for a gift basket :)

I think someone else on here put together one before....maybe Maria.  I've seen ideas on Pinterest before too.

  • I am so afraid of the answer to this question. What are mesh undies?
  • The BEST things ever! You get them at the hospital. Exactly as they sound, mesh and disposable.

This is what I've heard and been given the advice to take as many as possible from the hospital!

Love it! These are all the things I'm planning to have on hand after delivery. Wendy, it's so nice of you to do a basket for your sister. Take Maria's suggestions, she's wise. The numbing spray stuff I think is called Dermaplast, and I've heard Always Infinity with wings are the post partum pad of choice.

  • Sorry I had a nursing squirming toddler while I tried to type. Yes, Dermaplast is right.

I did four bags -- mom in the hospital, mom at home, dad in the hospital, baby.

The stuff I listed were the mom bags. Dad's had toothbrush, sports illustrated, gatorade, snacks, etc. Baby had burp pads, plain onesies and socks and Johnson's Head to Toe wash because I love the smell of clean baby!

Ok good. Whew!! I was picturing wire mesh and was a bit terrified.

  • The mesh undies and the cold packs were A.MAZ.ING!  I stole multiples of each.  I still have some in my bathroom closet just in case!
