I got to my parents house about 7:15 tonight and my dad carried D out of the house. Said he had just woken up and seemed really hot. I took him and he was burning up so I carried him inside. We sat on the couch so I could poke around at all of the new teeth popping through. He leaned over on my tummy and snuggled. Then he started seizing.
That was the scariest minute of my life.
Called 911. EMTs checked him out. We have an appt at 7:30 tomorrow morning.
He is back to his normal self, eating and playing.
I could use some T&Ps that this was just a fluke - I don't know how many of these I can handle.
*Update*
Dr said he looks great. He is back to having a good time. His fever started coming back this afternoon so my MIL gave him some more medicine. I am hoping to never experience this again but at least next time I will be prepared and know exactly what to do.
My poor dad - mom said he was trying to tell her what happened and his eyed welled up with tears, she said they never spilled over but he was just so upset :-( He went out to Kroger and bought some fever reducer and a temporal thermometer last night.
Thank you for all the thoughts, prayers, vibes and the stories with happy endings :-) You ladies truly are the best!
Re: T&P for D *Update*
T&P's coming your way. Like the other girls said, it is something that can happen with kids and high fevers. The same thing happened to my cousin when she was little. It doesn't make it any less scary, but just to let you know I know someone who it happened to. She was back to her normal self later in the day
Good luck at the appt. tomorrow. I hope everything turns out fine!
Oh man- how scary! Sending T&Ps your way. Keep us posted!

Lots of T&Ps and hugs for D!!
My niece did the same thing when she was right around 2. She was sleeping in my parents bed and woke up crying saying she didn't feel good. Then she seizured for probably 20 seconds (seemed like FOR.EVER.) came out of it and said,"Aunt Kawi can I please have some ice cream?"
I remember taking her to the ER and the doctors telling us that sometimes that is how our bodies make the fever go down. (Of course, they put it in some sort of medical term.)
A girl I work with had the same thing happen to her son when he was around 5 or 7 I think. She said that after the seizure he slept for like 12 hours but woke up and was fine.

Sorry you are going through that. (I know i am late).
One of my really good friends little boy seizes every time he gets a fever. It first happened with when he got his 1 year molars in. Now she doesn't even bring him to the dr for it because she knows exactly what to expect and what is happening.
