11/22/63 by Stephen King! I am really excited to read this book and I hope you ladies are too ![]()
Let's set the reading time for this to be July 1 - 29. That will give us July 30th and 31st to discuss the book. Do yo ladies think that two days is enough to discuss it? I know that weekends aren't very busy on here so I thought if we went until the 29th that'll give us Monday and Tuesday to discuss it. We can always continue the discussion after the end of the month too! You ladies just let me know what you think ![]()
As far as August and September's books go, I was thinking that we could us the other two books from the poll - The Red Tent and The Shadow of the Wind. Otherwise, I can select three whole new books to vote on so you ladies just let me know what you want to do!

I'm excited! Going to pick it up from the library this afternoon.
And I'm up for reading whatever/ discussing whenever
Yay! I say we give it a go in the discussions, and then if 2 days isn't enough we could extend it the next month.
As far as picking the next book, what about putting both the other books in a poll with a new book? That way there'd still be a vote without you having to pick out 3 new ones!
I've already read this one (currently reading the sequel) but maybe you could toss this one in there for all the historical fiction lovers =]

I've been reading a series by Alan Bradley called the Flavia de Luce novels. There's currently 4 in print, and I read the new one within a week of its release, but they are just so damn fun to read! Here is the Goodreads link to the first in the series:

I love Flavia de Luce, too! I thought the first one was great, and the next 3 were really entertaining but started to seem a little formulaic to me, I think.
And I've been wanting to read The Hangman's Daughter- Book club would be a great excuse!
I can't wait for DH to ask me what the heck I'm doing with a Stephen King book- Definitely not my usual thing
Kinda the same thoughts on FdL, except that I thought they got creepier with the 2nd and 3rd books, and I was a bit bummed that Flavia was starting the stray from her chemistry in the 2nd and 3rd books, but she found it again in the 4th. The last book was a bit more fun loving like the 1st, but I still can't put them down! Looks like there will be a total of 6 books in the series according to www.flaviadeluce.com
I totally agree about the chemistry- It's like he got really focused on the plot and kind of forgot to develop Flavia. Or at least keep her character consistent? I don't know... Just a little something was lost somewhere through the series for me.
So glad to hear there's supposed to be 2 more, though- Alan Bradley is kind of getting up there in age. I selfishly worry that something will happen to him before enough Flavia books have been written
