Friend/Neighbor having a baby soon....what can I make?
H's very good friend and his wife live next door to us. They are expecting a baby within the next couple of weeks.
I was thinking about making a casserole type of dish (or two) for them to have since they'll be too busy/tired to cook.
Besides lasagna (which I'm thinking about doing as one of the dishes)....what else can I make?
Also, are there certain foods breastfeeding moms should stay away from??
I'm clueless and can't seem to find anything good on pinterest!

Chicken or turkey pot pie would be good and you can freeze it once it's completely made (crust an all). I always just make it from my head but here is a general idea of how I make it.
I buy the pilsbury pie crusts in the red box (two come in one box) I place one on the bottom of a pie plate or casserole dish and add cream of chicken soup (two cans), one can of cheddar cheese soup, veggies (I buy the frozen kind), any cooked chicken that you like cut up or shredded. Throw everything into the dish then top with the other crust. Bake @ 350 for about 30 minutes or until crust is golden brown
Not really a summer time dish but it is always so yummy!
I don't have any suggestions per se, but I love allrecipes.com.
I also agree with the freezer idea - that way they wouldn't have to eat it before it spoiled, and if you put everything in one portion sized packaging I'm sure they'd love it even more!
A nice idea for them.
Generally any kind of casserole should freeze well as well as a lot of soups.
This website is geared towards cooking once a month BUT almost all of the recipes are freezeable: http://onceamonthmom.com/
Here's another good list of freeze recipes, including stuff like muffins for breakfast: http://jamiecooksitup.blogspot.com/2012/03/35-freezer-safe-recipes.html
Great idea BTW!

The casserole sounds great! How nice of you to think of soimething like that for them.
I BFed DD for over a year. So speaking from personal experiences the things to avoid are anything high in nitrates,i.e leafy green veggies, brussel sprouts, celery, hot dogs and too much dairy. I know that sounds like what she should be eating ( other than the hot dogs) but they actually cause a lot of gastro problems in babies. Colic ect.
My favorite website for recipes that are kid/ baby friendly is www.weelicious.com
It will have a lot of options for you!
