Me. We went up to visit my family in WA for Thanksgiving, and were rushing around because we were already going to be a bit late for the huge dinner (major sin in our family.)
We finally get the dog, bag and boys loaded in the car, and I close Sam's door to go around to the driver's side. Of course when I get to my door, I realize that the doors are locked. No matter, I think--Paul left the back end open. No, actually he's just closed it and gone to his car to grab something (but he's got the keys anyway, right???). And then I realize that the jangling noise that I heard in Sam's lap were, in fact, my keys. So I rush around to his door, going "Push more buttons, honey!" He just smiles very sweetly and throws the keys at the window.
So we had to call AAA, who sent a VERY grumpy locksmith to break into our car for us. I felt so dumb---the only silver lining was that at least it wasn't the crazy hot summer, when we would've had to smash a window immediately.
Re: Bad Parent Award goes to....
Honestly I think this happens to almost everyone. My mother had this happen to her twice with me and after hearing the story and that of my friends and relatives as well I'm completely paranoid about it happening to me. I survived and you aren't the first and definitely won't be the last
LOL @ the sweet smile and throwing the keys at the widow.
