STR: Recommend your camera
in Travel
This is somewhat travel related in that we're in the market for a new camera to use at home and while traveling. We're hoping to spend under $400 and would like something nicer than a $100 point and shoot but not as bulky so that it travels well. What do you take on your trip to take pictures with? I like to be able to print them out and scrapbook afterwards or put in frames so the iPhone camera isn't cutting it.

Canon PowerShot SX230 HS
I absolutely love it. It is light years ahead of the Sony camera that I had previously which was only a couple of years old. It has a pretty good optical zoom for a point and shoot (which was a priority for me) and it takes awesome pictures at night. With my previous camera, all of my night/dark pictures were grainy and the color would be distorted. I definitely do not have that problem anymore. I rarely have blurry pictures. I have taken photos out of a moving car window while on vacation- all crystal clear. It does have all sorts of manual settings that you can play with if you're into that, or you can just use the automatic setting. The only issue that I've had with this camera is the placement of the flash. It just took some getting used to and it's no big deal anymore.
I am by no means a camera guru, but I would definitely recommend my camera to anyone looking for a nicer (but still affordable) point and shoot camera.
I have the Canon PowerShot SX40 HS 12.1 MP Digital Camera and I love it. It takes amazing pictures. The zoom is great at 36x's optical.

If you want a nice camera for unser $400, I say go with this one.
