Wow - i never knew how hard building a semi-custom home was...until now. We finally agreed on the floor plan, inclusions, and got our preapproval. We signed the contract last Saturday!! YIPPY! BUT then found out to day that "they" haven't approved our contract yet. hmmm, really? That was 3 business days ago? Anyone heard of this or know why a builder wouldn't accept our contract?

Re: Building question
Our custom build was entirely easy from start to finish but we have a great builder with a good rep.
How did you find out that the contract wasn't approved yet? Did they call and tell you - what did they say when you asked them why it wasn't done yet after 3 days?
If you haven't spoken to them about it yet what is stopping you? If you have a lazy builder who doesn't move very quickly then you either need to know now and back out of the contract or know going forward that you will need to harp them the whole way.
I don't get builders who take their sweet time with the process - they don't get paid until they get the steps done (at least with a custom build). Within 1 hour of us signing the papers at the bank our builder's crew had already started the foundation dig. They wanted paid lol
