HAHA mine is coming out on July 10! My dr is going on maternity leave for 4 months on July 15 so I wanted to get in before that. They told me that she was completely booked and that there was no way I was going to get in for an IUD removal especially because its a longer appt. She just started laughing and couldn't believe there was a cancellation that was long enough for the removal.

  • I had mine taken out last week.

I was scared, too, but it was no big deal at all.  The procedure began like a normal annual where they "open you up".  The doctor went in with a giant pair of tweezers and pulled it out.  For about one second I felt cramping, but that was it.  Much easier coming out than going in.

Not sure why she said it was a long appt.  Mine took all of 5 minutes to come out.

Did your cycle come back pretty quickly? Did your doctor tell you how long you should wait before you got pregnant again? I'm assuming it would be the same as the pill which my doctor told me I didn't have to wait at all.

When I talked to my dr about it before she said it would be a lot like the pill. That some people your cycle returns right away and with others it takes a bit of time. She also said that we could start ttc whenever it didn't matter. This scares me because although we have been talking about it for awhile the reality of ttc again makes me nervous!

  • I just had mine out a few weeks ago (not trying still though) and it was nothing! Much easier coming out than going in. Only spotted for a couple days, but I am on a bcp now so it might be different if you come off it and go unmedicated. I agree with pp, it didn't take long at all either! 5 min, certainly not more

I had some spotting, so I'm not sure if it was considered to be a "real" period or not.  The doctor told me to wait one cycle and then we could start trying.
