Really long story short, I feel like the company we hired for DOC fell short in a lot of ways. They didn't do some of the things they were contracted to do (confirm vendors, meet with us 2 weeks prior to the wedding), I don't feel like the 3 people we were in contact with at the company shared info- so the actual DOC really only had about 1/3 of the info she was supposed to the day of the wedding, and overall the company didn't have a big hand in helping "make" our wedding. The DOC tried really hard the day she was there to run things, but it was hard for her not knowing all the info. Like, she didn't even have a copy of our schedule that I had emailed to the owner (twice).
So today I got an email from someone from the company, saying they want the contact info for the photographer so they can blog about the wedding.
1) Since it was stated in our contract that they would confirm with our vendors one week out from the wedding, shouldn't they already have that info? What's fun here is I know they did not do this- I confirmed with all the vendors and they said they hadn't heard from the planner at all.
2) I really don't want them to blog about our wedding and pass it off like it was their event. They did exactly nothing to help us prepare/ design it, and I feel like if they blog about it, it will be all "Look at this awesome event of ours!"
Am I crazy to feel this way? Am I being petty?
Re: Am I Crazy? (Long- Sorry!)
You are absolutely not crazy. I wouldn't want them to either. In fact, I would want to write them a negative review and let them know that you were not happy.
Maybe you can just tell them "Unfortunately, I would prefer you do not blog about our wedding as I was less than satisfied with your company's performance."
My Blog:Through My Eyes
this...I wouldn't support them receiving additional business if you were not satisfied with the company. Doesn't sound to me like they did the job they are trying to sell. They are trying to sell your job!
Have you "reviewed" their business on a third party website or even theirs? If I were a potential client, I would want to know if you were/not happy. This would be the only way I would know.
I am so sorry! I agree ^^
I don't think you are being crazy or petty. This isn't your some friend or family member you enlisted to help you out on your wedding day, this is a company you paid your hard earned money for them to help "run the show" so to speak and they didn't deliver what you paid them to.
I'd probably be a snarky *** and say something like "well, as my DOC, shouldn't you already have that information?"
I might let them you that you were disappointed. Maybe it was just a genuine mistake made. Either way, how are they going to improve without some criticism?
Agree with this. If they don't know what went wrong, they can't improve. You'll honestly be helping them out.
Thanks for the reassurances, ladies!
I have reviewed them online a couple of places, and was just going to let it go at that. Right now I'm on the fence as to whether I'll even respond to this email- Just not sure if I'm up for getting into it with them, you know?
