June 2012 Newlyweds!

Hi all newlyweds!  I was married on June 2nd and I looked at our nest board and noticed no one has posted anything yet.

I'm sure a lot of you miss the wedding excitement as much as I do but it's so exciting to finally be married and start our life together. How is everyone spending their first summer as newlyweds? And how is everyone settling into life together as a married couple?

Re: June 2012 Newlyweds!

  • I still have 10 days, but I doubt I will spend much time over here or TK unless work is very slow and boring.

  • I'm excited to have our own board on the nest.  We don't own our own  home yet, but I'm always looking for ways to spruce up our apartment.  It will be a lot of fun to keep in touch with everyone and see their homes, babies, and just how their life turns out in general.  We only have a few sneak peek pictures from our photographer back but I will post the link when we get them all back.

  • I'm a June 9 wife. We married on our dating anniversary.

Now we're super crazy busy. Moving into our first apartment. I'm working nearly 60 hours a week, and 6 days a week. We have a 3 year old furball, who loves constant attention. I'm also vying for a promotion at work and applying to grad school while

DH is on the job hunt b/c his current job is just that... a job, he's kinda stuck in limbo there and he's ready to do some career stuff.

Excited for the rest of the June brides to migrate over!

  • It is going to be very nice to keep in touch and see where everyone's life goes after getting married. We're currently house hunting and getting tips would be really cool. And we're both going through some job changes - life is crazy!

  • Hey everyone! I was a June 16 bride. We just got back from our honeymoon last night and have been spending the day opening our wedding gifts, unpacking, and just trying to get our apartment back in order :) I am not sure how often I will post over here, but I will post some. I am looking forward to seeing what the future holds for all of the amazing June 2012 brides!

  • Hi there!

June 8th bride and we're loving married life; we've been living together for quite a while though so not much has changed for us. Just alot more stuff than we had a few months ago.

This summer, I'm finishing up my licensure, H is immersing himself in work and we're planning a few trips and anticipating some weddings for other friends. We haven't had any fights as yet - just the same disagreements we've always had and it seems like we're still handling them the same so that means life is going to stay great!

We're still discussing babies but for now, we just want to enjoy our summer, keep saving and making this apartment our home. We truly love it here and I think it's where we're going to stay. Ah well - what can I say? Married life is great!

  • Thank you Chels!

On a side note, I don't know if I'll ever get used to hitting the reply button instead of scrolling down to the bottom of the page to respond without quoting.

  • midgetthemighty, I agree! It's odd that you have to hit reply to a message to post.

  • I am a June 9th wife and I am loving every minute of it!  I luckily have the summer off work to enjoy the new married life :) I am just trying to get into a routine of running the household now that I am off work.  It's definitely not as easy as it was when I lived alone! haha! We are loving our new life as a couple.  We lived together for about 3 months before we got married so we had a little time to figure some things out. It is so nice not to have to worry about putting a wedding together anymore though! My husband and I were out to eat the other day and we overheard another table arguing about wedding plans and it just kind of made me laugh because well, 1. I don't have to do that anymore and 2. it's not that big of a deal.  Once it's over you realize that :) I love that we have our own board! Welcome and I hope everyone else is having a wonderful first summer as newlyweds! Congrats!!

  • Ashlyn, We are in the same boat.  We don't have our own house yet either, but I am also enjoying getting on pinterest and finding new ways to make our apartment a home.  Have you found any good websites or anything? I love your wedding pictures :) You were a beautiful bride! Congrats!

  • I am a June 23 bride. We got married on the 7 year anniversary of our first date.

We bought a house around this time last year, so being married doesn't feel much different. It is nice to be official though.

I am trying to start a new job but I am not sure how it will work out yet. I suppose if this one doesn't work out, I will just get another. Fingers crossed this one pans out :)

I am considering having a post wedding party at our house so we can invite everyone who was not able to make it to our wedding. (It was out of town and an evening wedding)

I am thinking perhaps we will wait until we get our videography back so we can play the footage at the party.

  • I'm a June 24th bride. We lived together before the wedding, so it seems like not much has changed except now we have rings and more goodies.  I have the summer off work, so I'm spending it cleaning and organizing. Since we're older than your typical groom/bride, we are going to start trying for baby in a few months.

  • At Kiki...congrats on your decision to TTC in a few months! My husband and I are in our 30s but are not ready for children yet. I have been looking at stats for women in their 30s concerning child birth/rearing, and I have concluded that our 2 yr anniversary will be a good time to TTC. This would give us time to do things around the house, save more money, and go on two more child free vacations (no offense).

I am thinking perhaps if we do have a child 3 years from now, it may be our only one because of the risks involved for getting pregnant at or over 35.

What do the rest of you ladies thinking about having children?

Rikki, have you considered adding to your family through adoption? I know there are over 30,000 kids up for adoption in Canada, and there must be even more in the U.S. It's not for everyone, but I've wanted to adopt since I was a kid. My two youngest siblings were adopted when I was 14.
