Re: How's your summer?
My summer feels like it's going by so fast already. We started out going on a trip to northern Wisconsin where DH's family has a lake house, and spent a few days up there. It was nice to get away, but the weather didn't totally cooperate with us the whole time. We actually got caught out in the middle of the lake when a storm came out of nowhere, and the motor on the boat died. Luckily DH got it started again and we made it back safely, but we were completely soaked!
This month I've been busy mostly with work. We had a pool/BBQ party with the IL's a couple weeks ago, and have to go to a graduation party for DH's cousin this weekend in Indiana. I'm both looking forward to it and not wanting to go, just because I would rather stay home and relax instead. This week in particular has been crazy. One of my friends/clients got the opportunity to be featured on a new reality show on the Style network called Chicago licious, and had a fashion show filmed on Wednesday. I got to be there to help out, so I may be on the show, though I didn't talk very much since I was there to make sure models were dressed and ready to go. Then I got to watch the show and be in the audience with a couple other friends. It should air in September, so I'll let you all know.
The other "news" I have is that my brother and his FI finally set their wedding date! They've been engaged since December 2009 (a year before DH and I were engaged), and since they graduated college this year they are ready to get married. So they picked July 27, 2013. I'm so excited for them -- they picked a pretty outdoor garden/conservatory venue. One of my favorite places from my hometown. I of course offered any help or advice should they need it, but besides some future alterations I haven't heard anything yet.
Next month DH and I are planning to do something fun for the 4th, not sure what yet. He gets to take a 5 day weekend, which is cool even though 2 days are unpaid. He had the option to either take the 4th off only, and still work Thursday and Friday, or he could take them off unpaid but without penalty (normally his work will take away your bonus if you take too many vacation days). We also have a wedding for one of my high school friend's, and then I am possibly going to South Carolina with my sMIL and SILs for a week. That's not confirmed yet though, so we'll see.
Sorry for typing out a lot, I guess I have a ton more going on than I thought!

Sounds like a fun and busy summer! That's really exciting about the reality show, definitely keep us posted about when it will air.
I will be in rehearsal for most of July. I'm the Musical Director for a production of "Children of Eden" at a local performing arts center. We started last week, and the show goes up the third week of July. So with a short production schedule, we rehearse 6 days a week. Last week and this week have been music-only rehearsals, so I'm pretty exhausted. It's going well but we have a lot of work to do!
Other than that, H and I are still trying to figure out a belated honeymoon. We'll either go in August, or early September.

I had some blood work done at the Dr's office yesterday and came *this* close to passing out. On the upside, free apple juice! Hahaha.
We're hosting a small party tomorrow and DH and I are both excited. We're hoping to light the fire pit and cook up s'mores!
My bday is in a week and a half, so we're going to check out the new aquarium on or around that date.
My best friend is getting married in September. Her lovely FMIL demanded to host a shower instead of working with me, so that shower (which will be a total cluster, I'm sure) is in 2 or 3 weeks here. And then I just got the invites in the mail for the shower I'm hosting that DH and I created and printed on vistaprint. They look awesome. I'm excited to be planning it.
And just over 3 months before we go to Hawaii! I just recently got all our major activities booked, so now we're just pretty much waiting for it to get here!
Have fun in Hawaii. Is it a honeymoon or a vacation trip? We're going to Hawaii on 11/10 for a week. It's a honeymoon/anniversary trip...and we wanted to start it before our anniversary which is why we're starting it on the 10th. Just under the wire!
My cousin is getting married on 7/7 so I'm flying back to Boston for that and making a nice little vacation of it for me. (It also happens to be my mom's birthday, but she's thrilled that my cousin's getting married on that day.) Hubby can't go because of our November trip so he'll be a bachelor for a few weeks.
Just vacation. We decided that once we have a baby, it'll still be feasible for us to go to Disney World, but it would be a long wait to ever get to Hawaii. We figured we might as well do it now while we can! Which island are you going to?
Joanna where are you guys thinking about going for your HM?
Cupcake and Ourwedding - so jealous of your Hawaii trips! DH and I are hoping to do an anniversary trip this year but no solid plans. Best case we go to Mexico or Jamaica, "worst" case we go to Florida and stay at his grandparents' condo again. Hopefully we do one of the first ones, because like Cupcake said, it's harder to do the big trips with kids. Not that we're there yet, but I am starting to think about that for next year.

All you girls sound like you are having the best time!
I am looking forward to the vacation pix from Hawaii and am super jealous.
Where in Hawaii are you going? I also want to know where everyone else is going so I can live vicariously through them.
I wish we could go somewhere but with the new house and a sick cat, things that cost a lot of money keep popping up. We are getting our backyard fence put in today and tomorrow so that will be nice especially since yesterday some man and his kid just randomly decided it was ok to just come into the back yard and run around. So weird. There is a business next door where they must have been waiting for someone but really who does that? I didn't kick them out but definitely thought it was a bit strange.
So far, I have just been sick for the past month with morning sickness which is all day and night too. I am trying to wait patiently for the day when it subsides and goes away which is hopefully in a few weeks. Then I might try to plan some day trips around the area to go tubing (which is just floating in a tube down the river).
Rusty the cat who is about 15 has been to the doctor about 3 times since we moved and next week he gets an endoscopy done. After X-rays and everything they can't figure out why he just keeps losing weight (he is now 6.20 pounds down from 13 3 years ago) and now he is just pooping all over the house randomly. He still goes pee in the litter box but just pooping everywhere. Hopefully this will give us an answer and a solution. He still purrs though and is super sweet.
Other than that, my H has been a champ and I miss him as he is just gone all day working his new job and even has to work late at night sometimes after he comes home.
I wanna go to Hawaii! Lol.
My and DH's time and money this summer is and/or soon will be consumed by our house, which should be finished with construction last week of July or first week of August. So we haven't been going out much. DH plays video games, I read, lol.
We are hoping to go somewhere for our first wedding anniversary. Can't quite afford Hawaii though, lol.

The good, the bad, and the ugly.
The good, an old high school friend and mother of my Goddaughter, is getting married in August. And things are moving along swimmingly in future plans for paying off debt. I've even set aside extra money for a boudoir session to use for DH's anniversary present. (July 6th, keep me in mind so I don't chicken out!)
The bad, my in-laws are dragging me along with them to look at houses for them every single Sunday. My ONLY day off. UGH. Our gutter is completely blocked from all the wind and rain dumping debris in it. So that's gonna be a fun project...
The ugly, secrets suck. All I want to do is talk to someone about this, but I can't until it happens. DH and I can talk to each other about it, but not in public because it's a "need to know" kind of thing and can't have anyone over hearing. I have a feeling the next 8 weeks are going to fly by unfortunately. So stay tuned on that one.

Our summer has been a little nutty. DH got a new store and his been working so much to fix it because it's a straight mess. So I haven't seen a lot of him. I'm also teaching summer school, which is actually over in two days! I can't believe it went so fast.
We had a housewarming party. It was really nice. We had our families and a few friends over and everyone seemed to have a great time. DH's older sister didn't come, as usual, and DH was upset about that. At some point, you just have to stop expecting her to show up.
Next month, I'm watching our niece and nephew for the month. I don't really have a relationship with them (DH's niece and nephew), so I have no idea what to do with them/what they want to do. I'm actually nervous about working with kids! That hardly ever happens. Haha
I've also been applying and interviewing for my own classroom. I went on an interview with a school district and they called back and said it was a perfect interview and how great I was, then told me they didn't have a position for me. I was like WTF? Why didn't you tell me that first? The school I work at just had a position open up, so we'll see if my principal wants to put me in that spot. We've been chatting about it. We'll see what happens there.
I also had surgery a week ago. We go next week to find out if they polyps they took out are a problem or not. My doctor didn't think so, and I hope not too. Then we start clomid and maybe get a baby!
I'm also going to a bunch of concerts this summer. I went to DMB last night and I'm going again tonight. I've never gone to all nights when he was in town, so I'm super pumped about that! I'm also going to Fiona Apple next month and Barenaked Ladies in August. And school starts again August 2nd! The summer is almost over! I can't believe it.

Heyyy ladies! H and I are having a busy summer getting together with friends. Also, we're trying to save money all the while gearing up for our Vegas trip in October. We probably shouldn't be going, but we feel like it's our last hurrah before we get into baby-making mode. Ugh, I hate myself for saying that. We're sitting back and waiting for two couples in our crew to get engaged. Should be happening soon. In the meantime. I'm keeping myself busy quietly judging other people's wedding ideas in conversation and on Pinterest. My latest target of dislike is that "honeymoon fund" jug that is floating around on Pinterest. I cringe when people comment saying what a great idea it is to have at the reception.
Just wanted to check in. Later, ladies!
We have an anniversary board! I just popped over to the club board on TK and saw the link, so hello, all!
My summer hasn't started yet--tomorrow is the last day of school and we have an end of the year harbor cruise to celebrate, so that should be fun.
Other than that, we are going to Hawaii in a week, so I'm trying to get everything ready at home beforehand and I'm doing a ton of (unnecessary) shopping. What islands are you all going to? We're staying on Maui, but might do small hop-overs to other islands. We'll see.

My summer has been good... but very busy. Still going to school and working and whatnot but now there's more weekend trips.
This weekend we went up north alone to my parents cabin, bottle fed baby dinner, swam in the lake, stopped at Frankenmuth (http://www.frankenmuth.org/) for lunch and to walk around for 3 hours on our way home, I bought 2 new tires, and ran more errands. I'm also fighting a cold. Ugh!

I'm not either

Our summer is going good so far. It already seems to be flying by.
We're not going to Hawaii, but we are possibly planning a cruise to Bermuda. Not confirmed yet. But that's exciting.
We haven't had a housewarming per se, but we did have a cookout with a bunch of family at Memorial Day, so that was a lot of fun. We're thinking about having some orther party with some friends later this summer but not much on that yet.
Thats kind of it for now. I'm so happy we're actually all on the same board again!
July is wedding central around here, going to 2 weddings and a shower.
No big travel plans, we are saving our vacation time and money for a trip to NYC for Thanksgiving week with my family! Should be lots of fun!
So far, so good. School ended on the 13th, so I've been off for a week and a few days. (Liz, how is your summer school OVER already?!?!) I start teaching summer school July 9th for 4 weeks, 4 days a week just in the mornings which is fine with me.
My big job news is that the guy I was working with quit to go work for the state, so now I'm in charge of the department, which currently consists of me. We have to hire two people- one to take his place, and one to help with the burden. But, I will still be the department head...so I went from my first year there, part-time, to full-time and the department head. I try not to tell too many people around here because people tend to get very tense about that very quickly...I guess I was just in the right place at the right time.
We have 3 weddings in 4 weeks this summer, but so far have been spending our weekends at our shore house with friends and family. I hosted my BFF's bachelorette party, which was a fun weekend. Dan is working, so I'm home during the day and pretty lonely. Today I went to Wegman's, got lunch, and sat upstairs at the market and people watched. That's how lonely I am...it's tough not having any friends around. I've tried to invite two of the girls at school out for lunch but I don't want to be "that girl" that's too clingy, so I have backed off.
Nothing else to report...glad we're back together!

Don't worry everyone- we're not going to Hawaii any time soon either! I'm super jealous of everyone's vacation. Our vacation funds are going to a new air conditioner because it just broke this week. Woo.
Adele- Our school was out May 29th and the kids came right back June 6th for summer school and we only have 12 days, mon- thurs morning. So tomorrow is the last day. Woo hoo!

I know how you guys feel. I was so bummed when people were talking about their honeymoons so soon after the weddings.
So sorry, busy weekend. We're going to Oahu. I went in 2005 but my husband's never been to Hawaii. I had so much fun there and wanted to go back to see some of the sights again. And...he really didn't care where we go for our honeymoon, his feeling is if I'm happy, he's happy. And I want him to be happy, (vicious cycle)
We couldn't afford a trip to Europe right now or a cruise we were looking at... maybe as a future anniversary trip we'll tackle one of those.
::waves::
We start in September, usually the first or second. Until I met H, I had no idea people went August-May--all the songs say "See You In September" lol. We are one of the last schools in session in the state, though, but everyone goes Sept-June.
I'm jealous of the Fiona Apple concert, too, damnit. I am trying to look, but I feel like nothing cool is coming our way this summer. We got to see Foo Fighters in May, but that's about it.
Hawaii girls--we're going to Maui. I was hoping to island hop and go to Oahu also, but we weren't sure how long H would get off of work and then we were overwhelmed and decided to stick with one island. We might decide to do it once we get there, though. I want to see Pearl Harbor and all.

We really wanted to do a cruise, but we're using the AA miles from my dad and AA vacations doesn't let you book a cruise with miles. Boo. So we're thinking to do an AI, depending on where we can get the most bang for our buck (or in this case, bang for our miles). Will keep you posted!

I have a busy summer with work. Since I work w/ kids, I'm busy when they are out of school. We've already gone to 2 weddings this year, and have 3 more on the books. I think 1 is being postponed until the spring though, which is a good thing. I also have 2 concerts I'm going to w/ a great friend that I'm pretty excited about. Cheryl Crow and Jason Mraz/Christina Perri. So fun!!!!!!! And we just finished cycle 1 of IVF and are awaiting pregnancy results next week. Just a bit stressful!!!!!
Oh, and we're moving in with my parents for a small transition period until we can get our house rented, and I'm opening my own practice. Did I mention I like stress and craziness in my life? LOL!
All of your summer plans sound great. I'm so jealous of all of you who are traveling. We canceled our trip to Quebec City last week for the IVF treatment. I was a little bummed about that, but the end results could be so much better.
Leslie that's exciting! T&Ps for IVF success! And best of luck with opening your own practice!
