I went to the bathroom last night and discovered that I had bled through my underwear and shorts (brown) then when I wiped there was bright red blood. I freaked out b/c this is exactly how my last m/c began. I decided to go to the ER to get piece of mind, there is no way I could have waited until today. By the time I got the the ER there was nothing on my pad and only light brown on TP when I used the bathroom.
They got me settled into a room and they took 8 vials of blood and hooked me up to an IV and gave me a whole bag of fluids and said I really needed it. Then I went to u/s. They found a gestational sac measuring 5w3d, which is 3 days ahead of where I have myself based on Ovulation. They didn't see anything in the sac though but said it is still really early and that it could just pop up tomorrow, that that is how fast the baby grows. The tech also told us that my beta was 8,000.
The ER doc came in and told me my potassium is really low and that I need to eat a banana or baked potato every day so I don't have to take pills. She also told me my beta's are low and only in the 4,000's.She also told me that I have a pool of blood between my ute wall and the placenta, I said oh a SCH? She's like oh wait, I'm telling you the wrong information. You're so early that your u/s didn't show anything. I have 4 similar cases in the ER tonight and I'm mixing them all up... Now I'm not sure what to believe from her.
I asked if the bleeding could have been caused by dehydration and over doing it (I did some lifting and stuff yesterday that I probably shouldn't have) and she said overdoing it won't cause bleeding or harm to the baby during the first tri. Is this TRUE?
I have a call into my doctor, they're looking over all the results from yesterday and are going to call me back to tell me if I should go for more bloodwork and if they want to do another u/s before the one that is already scheduled for Wednesday... Please say a prayer for me ladies that this baby sticks and grows big and strong!!
Re: Baby Scare
I would be so frustrated with ER giving wrong info
praying for a sticky!!!
((hugs)) please keep us posted on everything
That's crazy about the ER doc! Always ask for the attending if they are giving you conflicting info!! This month should still be safe, but next month, when most residents start, might be a little crazy.
Hope everything is ok!
T&P coming your way for a healthy, sticky baby. So sorry the Dr. was screwing things up that would be frustrating.
As far as overdoing it causing bleeding, I definitely think that could be the case. Several times during my pregnancy I had spotting, and a few times bright red blood in the toilet or on my underwear, and it was almost always after I had gone to the gym or on a long walk. I called the Dr. almost every time it happened and they said it was fine, sometimes the cervix can get irritated.
Take care of yourself and keep us updated!
