I feel old & frumpy

Yesterday a woman thought I was my sister's mom. Indifferent Ironically, a few hours before this happened, an older man called us both teenagers haha. Still sucks that someone assumed I was the mother of a 21 year old.

Re: I feel old & frumpy

  • I feel old and frumpy too.  Usually a night out helps to get things feeling young again...and doing something crazy.  Might be time for a stoplight fire drill or some doorbell ditching! ;) I'll come!

  • I feel frumpy, too. I spent a few days last week with my family in Texas. My little sis is in college and lifeguarding for the summer at our country club's pool. I felt so old and washed up laying out next to her at the pool! She's all young and perky and tan, and, well, I am pretty far from perky or tan currently. At least my boobs are big from breastfeeding?Huh?

  • Whatever dude, there is no way you look old enough to be her mother! That person was crazy.

    Um yeah, not even close!

  • On the other side, I look really young for my age. I opened the door for a salesperson yesterday, and he asked if I was the lady of the house, then added on that I looked young and he thought I might be the homeowners' daughter. People keep telling me to be glad that I look young for my age, but I'm still not old enough to appreciate it yet.

One reason I was so taken aback by it is that people usually assume I'm much younger than I am. When I taught HS, parents I hadn't met yet would often come in and ask where the teacher was, and I've never NOT been ID'd before--including when we went out for dinner and drinks for my 30th bday--I happily whipped out my ID :). So I've always appreciated that fact and I do even more now because it really sucked having someone assume I'm 10+ years older than I am.

And thank you, Blinking and buttercup Smile
