I am due in 2 weeks with our first and my parents have generously decided to take us, along with my sister and brother with his wife, to Hawaii next June. We are going to fly into OGG and stay at Honua Kai with a 3 bedroom condo for the rest of the family and me, my husband and son in a 1 bedroom. Any experiences with this resort?
Also, in terms of flights, my current thought is to fly from DC to Chicago and meet up with the rest of the family there for a few days since they all live close to O'Hare and then fly direct to Hawaii. I thought that would be easiest to have a bunch of family on the same flight to keep DS entertained. I would love for everyone to sit close together but from what I can tell that's pretty much a crapshoot anymore. Oh, and we will be without question getting a seat for DS with his car seat. Is economy plus worth the expense?
Am I missing anything that I should be considering before we start making arrangements to book the trip next week? TIA!
Re: Hawaii with a 1 Year Old
We did Econ Plus on our return flight from Hawaii to IAD (thru SFO) and it was worth it since it was a red eye. It was our HM and I got the United Visa card and was able to upgrade with the miles from econ to first on the outbound (i also called to tell them it was our hm). The new United Visa card which is a $95annual fee also has a lot of benefits like free bag check (I think). I think it's the explorer or voyager card
Hopefully the little one will sleep a lot of the flight but a portable dvd player helped keep our 2 year old occupied on long plane flights.
