Opinions Needed (Moms and Travel)

As many of you already know, we are taking to Julia to Disney next month.  We have decided to bring our own stroller and not to rent one so that we will have it for the airport and anything else we decide to do while we are there.  This where we need opinions.  We have two strollers, a baby trend jogging stroller and a maclauren umbrella stroller, and we can't decide which one to bring.  Here are the pros and cons of each:

Jogging Stroller:

Pros--Large Storage basket, parent tray and child tray, reclines to almost flat, adjustable handle (both a short mom and tall dad can push comfortably)

Cons--very bulky which can be a pain for folding up getting onto busses or airplane

Maclauren:

Pros--folds very easy and small, decent storage basket, parent "tray" (a cloth add on one we bought seperately)

Cons--no child tray, doesn't recline very far, small shade, short handle (not comfy for dad to push)

Anyone have any thoughts on which one would be better to bring?  Thanks!!

Re: Opinions Needed (Moms and Travel)

  • I am not a mother, so I don't know how much my opinion counts, but I will say that as someone who goes to Disneyland several times a year I am not a fan of many people who take a large stroller.

Many of the walkways aren't exactly narrow, but when there are lots of people at the parks it gets more difficult to navigate our way when there are large strollers.  Plus, when there are lots of people walking around there are so many times I get run over by the larger strollers (moreso than the smaller ones).

Now I know that some people are obviously more aware of their surroundings.  There was a very heated argument about this on disboards.com on the disneyland section a few months back. Some people felt quite entitled, IMO.

  • I would take the stroller that has the larger shade (for better sun protection) and the one Julia is most comfortable in.

  • I say the larger one for 3 reasons. 1. so that she can lay back further if need be  2. for the storage and 3. better sun protection.

  • When I traveled to Vegas and Ohio with KR I took my umbrella stroller.

To me it's SUCH a pain to try and push him around crap with my big one. Folding is a completely different story as well.

You could always add an umbrella for more shade coverage to your smaller stroller.

  • My vote for something like that is the larger one. It seems like it will be more useful for you once you're there. Regardless of which one, you need to gate check both, so you should bring the one that will be of best use on the trip!
