Anyone know anything about S. Korea?

My friend is from there and visiting for the summer. She was in a bad car accident over the weekend. I know what hospital she is in, can I send something? Anyone know if the hospitals there have gift shops? I don't know anyone else who speaks Korean to ask.

  • Thanks, she has some head and back injuries and will be in for about a week! She's staying with her mom, her grandparents and brother are there, but her husband is here and she has their almost 1 year old who was also injured. I can't imagine being that far away from my husband, even if I was with my family.

  • Ugh. This sucks. Im

    Not sure what's customary there.

  • Maybe try cross posting on the International Nesties or Travel boards too.

I hope your friend is OK!

  • Found this on Fed Ex's website (if link doesn't work, I googled 'sending packages to south korea and clicked on the fed ex link)

  • I was just wondering if there were any companies like Edible Arrangements or the like? I found flowers, but that's not really her.

JenD - thanks, did you look at the prices? They start at $75 and still takes 2 weeks!

  • What city is she in?

  • Here's what I got back.. Not sure it's helpful.

"ok, here's what I found out. If you want to order something from a Korean website--one that would carry the items you are looking for--you have to have a Korean ID number, on top of the accepted credit card. (plus the webpages are in hangul) We've come up against this for concert tickets, etc. you MIGHT be able to go through a local hotel chain gift shop, like Hilton or Sheraton but those are going to cost you a LOT... but they might be able to help... probably for a fee... it would be vastly helpful if you had someone with you who could read and speak Korean so things aren't lost in translation."

  • Mirpete - thanks a million. I would assume my Amex works there without issue. I have no one who reads or speaks Korean. I'll call Amex and see if they can help. She's in Seoul, so things should be pretty accessible.
