Visiting Bumpie! Babymoon ideas?

I frequent the Oct 2012 birth month board, but am in need of some local assistance.  Hubby and I woud like to take a 3-4 night vacation before our 2nd little bundle arrives. Ideally, we'd like to do this in early September. We plan to leave DS1 with my mom while we are gone :( I dont want the actual travelling to take up too much of our time, since we are limited, and I'll be a big preggo. I was sold on the idea of a the Baltimore Bermuda cruise, but the shortest they have is 5 nights...too long. I'd love to go to a resort, and dont mind flying. Price is something to consider, but I'm most concerned that the place is nice (ideally all-inclusive) and easy to navigate. We also threw around the Keys, golf resorts in VA, a resort in Bermuda etc...there are so many options, but few that meet my special requests! I dont put much faith in the reviews on travel websites either...I need real people's advice.

Re: Visiting Bumpie! Babymoon ideas?

  • I have no idea if this is realistic, but here's just an idea:

I just got back from a week in Jamaica at Couples Tower Isle. Couples has four resorts in Jamaica, all are supposed to be very nice (not uber-luxurious, but awesome staff, good food and drinks, and simple but lovely accommodations).

The company does something called "secret rendevous." Basically you book a trip with them for a discounted rate, but you don't find out what resort you're going to until a week or so before you leave (Because you always fly into Montego Bay and the resort provides free transportation, you don't have to worry about those logistics).

Essentially they give you a discounted price to fill the rooms that have not been already booked. In September, I think it would be a greater discount because it's technically still hurricane season.

So maybe that's an option if you want to do the Caribbean? I'm not sure if other resorts have anything similar.

  • I'm not sure what to suggest, but I can tell you that cruise lines won't allow women who are 24 weeks or further on  their cruises.  We went on a cruise when I was 23 weeks. They told me if I turned 24 weeks at any time during the cruise, they would not let me board.  I had to get a note from my ob that stated how far along I was, my due date and that I was low-risk. I also had to fax all of the information to the cruise line in advance.

So it looks like you might be stuck with flying or driving. I don't really have any recs on resorts. Good luck, though.
