Travel question for the moms
Have any of you ladies rented a car seat on vacation? We are heading to Key West in 2 weeks (so excited!) and have been debating whether or not to bring Katie's car seat with us. We Are renting a car to get to and from the airport, so she'll be in the seat for a total of about 6 hours. We will not have the car the entire week we are there.
Im just worried about the condition of the rented seat and Katie's safety. Any advice? WWYD?

Re: Travel question for the moms
I haven't, but my friend's DH worked for one of the big rental companies and so I have insight. First of all, all employees have certifications for carseat installation. Even if you bring your own, they will verify it is installed correctly. Also, my friend's husband had a company car (whichever rental he wanted) and he would have a carseat in it for their DD and it was always a relatively new (looked brand new) carseat of a "good brand."
Long story short, my experience is they do not, under any circumstances, cut corners with carseat safety.
ETA: They just got back from Europe. They now have two kids and the airline lost both carseats. So there's that.

What are you looking at?
This happened to a friend of mine they lost both carseats and they had twins. The arrived at the airport at midnight with no way of getting home. Two adults sat in back and wore the babies!
I have no advice on the car seat but wanted to say how jealous I am of you going to Key West!!!! DH and I LOVED it there. We haven't been for several (many ) years and were just taking about it.
I hope you have a good time!!! We were surprised by an impromptu performance by Jimmy Buffet!

I've brought my own car seats and haven't had a problem...I bought a cheap $50 dollar one at Target so I wouldn't ruin my Britax.
