Alternative to vertical blinds on sliding glass doors?
We have sliding glass doors in our kitchen, opening up to our back yard patio. And lovely white plastic vertical blinds, which are not fantastic to begin with, and are even worse with a few years of wear on them (corners broken, one slat is entirely missing thanks to a kiddo).
If you have a smiliar arrangement, what do you have on your doors? Panel curtains? something else?
Re: Alternative to vertical blinds on sliding glass doors?
Berri,
We have the same situation in our home. We haven't added on a deck or a patio yet, but sliding glass doors are a challenge. We used curtains...

My IF blog
I have French doors and have panels hung on either side. I extended the pole so that the bulk of the panel hangs beyond the doors making operation easier.
In my old house I had dual panels (woven grass) that were installed in the same header and had a valance covering the header. I rarely dropped them, as we had no rear neighbors, unless it was really sunny or bitterly cold.
We didn't need anything for privacy so we went with bamboo roman shades and IKEA panels. Here is the best picture I could find of them.

We has something similar to below. 4 panels across the doors. We've since replaced the sliders with the ones with the blinds in the glass and I love the clean look of them.
ETA - we got them at JC Penny on a whim 5 or so years ago - super sale for around $80 total.
I had the cheapie version of this in my old house. In the new house I tried the woven curtain/panel from JCP and wasn't impressed. We now have curtains up and I like them much better. The woven panels were heavy and hard to move. I spent a pretty penny on them and they're lying around my basement.
