My sister and her husband are heading to the hospital in a little bit. At her check-up today, she had elevated protein levels and quite a bit of edema, possible early indicators of pre-eclampsia. They're going to monitor her for 24 hours and then decide what to do from there. Within the last week, she'd developed severe itching (cholestatis?) and bell's palsy, so they were planning on her having the babies by July 3rd anyway (which would be 36 weeks), mostly b/c of the itching disease. So, it may be a bit sooner that she was planning, but not too much. Babies have been growing pretty good all along, and had been a bit over 5 lbs at her last ultrasound.
If you could keep my sister and the babies in your thoughts and prayers, I know she'd appreciate it! Thanks!
UPDATE: I went and hung out at the hospital with her for a while this evening. She's doing okay, besides being uncomfortable and all that. Levels and blood tests are looking good for now. They're going to do an amnio tomorrow to see how developed the babies are and then decide form there.
Update 2 - Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. They will finish up the 24hour catch around midnight. As of right now though, they said the lungs are a tad underdeveloped so they gave the babies some steroids and are planning on her delivering on Friday if she and babies continue to do well. I'll post some pics when babies are here! ![]()
