Just adopted Flemish Giant baby bunny

Saturday we rescued a baby boy from a litter of 11. They're a cross between Giant Chinchilla and Flemish Giant. They were all so cute that it was hard to choose. They all love people--and mama was so sweet and friendly that my husband decided to adopt her too. She's huge! We're going to have 2 gigantic bunnies in the house soon:-)
Re: Just adopted Flemish Giant baby bunny
adorable
So chinchillas and bunnies can mate? Is a chinchilla in the rabbit family? Excuse my ignorance on bunnies. The only thing I know about rabbits is that they love to eat the flowers in my garden.
Off to wikipedia.
Thanks everyone! Our dog is very gentle and friendly to even the smallest pet (he was our guinea pig's best friend--they even cuddled together). We don't have the buns yet (this weekend probably when the baby reaches 8 wks), but I have no doubt that the dog will tolerate them well. He is friendly with the 2 bunnies we already have in the house, and he has zero prey drive. They're all friends.
The mom Giant Chinchilla is actually a breed of rabbit that is the same color as a chinchilla animal, so no cross-species babies. The dad is a Flemish Giant, so the baby will get BIG. We're super excited.
Thanks for the clarification, obviously I'm not familiar with bunnies.
Hi Jenni,
It's great that you want to adopt one of these babies. Sorry they haven't got back to you. That's really sad considering these buns really need a home, and it's nice to get them while they are still babies. I don't think HRS checks their FB questions section often though. I filled out an application last week and was emailed a few days later to come and meet them. When I speak to the fosterer for this litter I will let her know that you're having this problem. They have adoption days once per month, but this fosterer may be willing to do a meet-n-greet in her home. She's in Harford county though, so it might be a bit of a drive for you. I hope this works out for you!
Thanks for responding. I had called, emailed and filled out an application last week Thursday. Nothing.
I am not sure if you remember this far back (were you already on here?) but 2 years ago before I got my rabbit Harry I wanted one that I had fallen in love with on Petfinder from their rescue. Over the course of 7 weeks I called, emailed, filled out more than one application, called some more, emailed some more.... finally I gave up and went to a breeder. So this was my second time around. And again I ended up going to a breeder. It upsets me to no end
